He is brilliant! And even though he does know it, he doesnt let it get in the way of good teaching, most of the time! Dont think that you can slide by, you will work and you will work HARD! But overall it is totally worth it if you are interested in Art History.

One of the worst profs I have ever taken. He is completely arrogant, and can not seem to be bothered to actually help his students out. The students must give the presentations so he barely teaches the class. Just plain bad all around.

His papers are impossible, getting 80/200 on a paper for being 4 lines off on a 4 page paper is never fun. the amount of painting requiring memorization is outrageous. And one would only expect the professor to be competent in his pronunciation of words related to his field, but it is not true in this case. Overall, horrible teacher, tests, papers.

Although he's a tough grader when it comes to papers, his tests are managable IF you study and memorize the online materials. He has so much knowledge about art history and I like the fast-paced lectures; I'm never bored. Prepare to be challened, but great teacher!

This is the worst teacher on campus. He thinks he is teaching to grad students when really no one cares what he has to say. Never take this class, the tests are impossible, memorizing 150 paintings for the final should never be a task given in a GE course.

Ok. If you plan on using him as a tool, someone to help with the hard essays forget it. He will not help in a helpful way. He will just say read the book. Awful. His lectures are clear to me, but you can get the same information by looking online. If your willing to work hard by yourself and enjoy art great. if not try something else.

Very knowledgable about art history. Very hard class. If you don't study, you won't do well! Don't miss class. Study what he gives you on line. He does have a sense of humor, but not about how he wants papers written. At least you get a second chance if it's not done right. I really enjoyed the class.

another one of the best art history teachers on campus. hard, yes... he knows his stuff and he is very nice. do the work, and you'll be fine. art history is not supposed to be easy... if you go with an interest, you'll enjoy the class. if not, you'll hate it. it's supposed to be work. survey courses are the worst (i agree!!) but im getting a masters in the subject... its better than you may think. get to know the guy, he's a good person to talk to and get to know.

Very tough, he has been known to hand back 90% of turned in term papers with N/C because they weren't done right. At least you get an extra week to fix it before turning it back in. I worked my butt off and got a C. Careful with what you write, he's extremely intelligent and can see through the BS and nail you. Take-home tests are VERY hard.
