Comment:
Jeff does not give homework or in class practice, just lectures and tests and walk in quizzes, one very confusing and tricky project will little instruction or clarity. answeres questions with more questions and expect you to memorize the powerpoints. bad jokes, bad teaching, seems not to care about your confusion or lack of understanding. Avoid

Only 3 tests and a final. CS in general continually builds off old concepts. If you miss one or two classes, you'll be okay because he'll review the last class most of the time. But missing a lot of means you're missing a lot of info. Helps to have some CS background, but you don't need it to pass.

Knows everything about programming, but nothing about teaching. He engages students in random battles of wits to prove that he knows more about syntax than the entire class, then he ask you to write program code on A SHEET OF PAPER! This paper cannot be compiled or tested and it gives him the opportunity to issue any grade he wants. Avoid

I do not recommend his class to anyone. He will make you want to change your major. His lectures are vague. His tests are fill in the blank. All of his fill in the blank tests do not have a word bank. He doesn't give you study guides for his tests. There are no test review sessions. No powerpoints. He doesn't assist you with his class projects.

Gives long vague lectures, expects assignments done "his way" but says different, won't help when asked just says read tutorial and figure it out yourself then he rejects your work when you do cause it wasn't his way. Gets smart with students using emails to ask for help. Acts like you should already know the material before you took the class.

Ask and you shall receive. Byron's passion for the subject matter can be intimidating at times but visiting him when you have a question outside of class is a God-send. Test are discouraging and difficult. Lectures are full of personality. If you survive, you'll come out of his class a new student with a higher tenacity for try-try-again.

I am about to graduate and this is the first class I have had with Dr. Jeff. THANK GOODNESS!!! Otherwise, I may have changed my major to get away from him. He is an extremely nice man, but a HORRIBLE teacher. His lectures are all over the place and his tests are 50% fill in the blank and 50% essay. The group project was AWFUL!

B-O-R-I-N-G!!!! He says really corny jokes, and fits the perfect mold of a computer geek. His tests are awful. One test might be on 4 different chapters which could include anything. The test might have about 35 questions, all fill in the blank, and you dont even get a word bank or anything. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MAN!!!(unless you want a class to sur

If you want to KNOW the material not just pass, TAKE HIS CLASS WHATEVER HE IS TEACHING! Just be ready to think, read, research, perform. He is a "LINUX GEEK"!Great teacher!

Jeff is a cool teacher. I pasted his class with a "A" it wasn't easy now. He drops the lowest grade "Test" if you score high on the final exam. Doesn't use the book. He uses slide shows. Test are all fill in the blank and no world bank!If you have a good mind in memorization then your good to go.

He teaches tough subjects and he knows them thoroughly - better than most Prof's on campus. You need to think and know the content of the pre-req'd classes thoroughly. He will not do remedial teaching. He will slow down, but not enough for helpless students. He's not mean, he's smart and challenging

In my opinion, Byron is a very disorganized instructor with poor classroom and curriculum management skills. He flat out refuses to narrow down the topics that should be focused on while studying for a test. Basically you will be assigned 150 pages of re
