Professor Nishiura is arrogant and defensive. He has absolutely no interest in teaching or in students actually learning. His lectures are convoluted and boring. He has a dry sense of humor I might appreciate in a different setting, but it comes across as mean-spirited in lecture. He seems to delight in humiliating students...

As a teacher he is not the greatest but his test were very very easy. 4 tests throughout the semester (all 10% including "midterm" and "final"). 80% of his test questions are the EXACT homework questions assigned online... this lecture was a breeze for me....

I didn't like him, his lectures were long and he read off the board. The only good thing about him is all his questions for his test, for my class at least, were from the Mastering Biology homework's that he assigned word for word. Just study those and you will be fine!

terrible professor. very knowledgable but doesn't know how to lecture or teach which makes him completely useless to students. he's not very good at helping you understand the material and to make matters worse, he will deliberately make exams hard so people will do poorly. barely pulled off a B and I studied ALOT. take at your own risk.

Without a doubt one of the worst professors at Brooklyn College. Doesn't teach anything. You are left to teach yourself from a textbook that is dense and difficult to understand. Why even have a professor if the entire course is based off memorizing the textbook? Very rude, and doesn't explain anything.

As a professor, he's not the nicest, or the most caring. In fact, he's mean. Really mean. But as the only Genetics Prof. in school, he's unavoidable. So here's my advice for passing: Go to lecture, pay attention, and practice problem solving questions. That's it. But honestly, if you don't want the headache, just get a CUNY permit. I got an A, btw.

Anyone complaining about this class obviously haven't put any work into it. Class was not easy but also not too hard. Do the practice problems in iGenetics, that's all I did. And don't ask him stupid questions.. I got an A.

This professor teaches genetics class. He is knowledgeable, but it is very hard. I finally drop his class after the second test. You don't need to read the text book and try to understand the materials. But he goes so deeply. 5 quizzes and 1 final exam. no paper. I don't recommend the students who will not go for med, dentistry, pharmacy school.

The lecture is very interesting, but his exams are tricky. Genetics is a difficult class to take and do well.Ask as many questions as you possibly can, in lecture even if he gets frustrated he will always do a problem you give him. I thought I was surely failing but he actually passed me with a C. I'm grateful for that; being that I thought I was getting a F.

Genetics- very interesting but not that easy. Lectures can have an overload of info and you need to supplement it with the book if you dont fully understand. But if you know the lectures and practice questions from the textbook, you'll be ok for his exams

He is a bad professor. One of those who loves to show who's the boss in class, and often very intimidating so that people end up not asking questions. He is supposedly helpful during office hours but I never went because he makes me fear him. I got my A but you have to study hard and solve lots of word problems.
