Probably the best history teacher I have ever taken. Lectures are entertaining and you will learn a lot. Make sure to read the book as well if you want to ace the class. Grading is not really easy considering the class averages on the 3 exams were 68-72, but it is fair. Would definitely take another class with this prof.

I loved attending his class. his lectures are easy to understand. You have to have the book but the quiz questions on the Mylab are word for word from the pages. His test reviews are the exact subject over questions he will be asking on the test. Listen to lectures, try to read the book. Best history class I've taken here.

He's so passionate about his class! He tells everything like a story which I honestly really like because you can really understand what was going on and it's way better than having to read! I went to every class and paid attention and I got an A+. He's really nice and funny. Take him if you can!! :]

He is a VERY good professor. He is funny, interesting and makes you enjoy history. The exams are not hard as long as you attend the reviews (which are really similar to the tests!). the TA's are really nice and helpful and dont grade to harshly, they just look for basics. Take his class!!!

Fantastic Teacher. Very Clear and understanding. Has an enthusiasm for his subject. Great class that will require some (but not much) side work/ reading. I would advise to take this class if you get the chance.

Best teacher I've met. I took him for Texas History and learned a lot. This class is easy as long as you do the work(which is easy to begin with)There are two papers, group work,that you have to do and a presentation which were all easy. He is also very nice; Awesome teacher! Definetly take his class if you need a History credit.

Awesome teacher I never saw myself liking texas history but he just brings is to life! He uses the book a lot so you need to buy them theres a lot of group work but its easy and a presentation you have to write two papers but he pretty much gives you the information easy grader awesome teacher

What a nice prof! He makes the material interesting by telling stories, using visual aids, encouraging class participation, and even having everyone do a small presentation. The class wasn't hard, just keep up with the readings if you want to make an A. The two exams were multiple choice and you had two takehome essays.

As a Texas native, I never knew I could learn even more about Texas history and at the same time, enjoy it so much! I would encourage anyone, regardless of your major or minor to take a class with this professor. He is nice, reasonable and really makes you appreciate a higher level of Texas history!!!

Patterson is an excellent teacher who really enjoys his work. His notes are on powerpoint so you can pay attention to his riveting historical stories and not worry about missing the notes. Won't have to study for tests if you pay attention,which you will.
