Very difficult class. Exams consist of 5 terms picked out of 70-90 and 1 essay picked out of 3 (the final is 10 terms, no essay). The terms aren't defined for you on the review sheet, and it's difficult to find a paragraph's work for each term solely using the textbook or your notes. I have never seen so many people leave a final exam so quickly.

This guy is horrible. His lectures are boring and pointless, nut he still expects you to go. Exam format is ridiculous and based on the luck of what you know. He's a horrible teacher and he made hate a subject I actually enjoyed in high school.

Well, I gotta give this man credit for one thing. He definitely does help you learn. Of course he does it at the expense of your grades.. I did really bad in the 1st exam but manage to pull out an A on the second one. He will expect you to work very very hard. You got to make sure you read everything to do well. This is prolly his last semester.

Not an easy A for non-history majors, but definitely worth taking. He's tough, but his lectures are great. Go to office hours. He's the epitome of a US history prof.

Reed is a good guy, and is pretty straightforward. The two exams (essay and 5 IDs) we hard just due to the amount of memorization needed because the study guides had more than 70 terms. One term paper was easy, final had 10 IDs. Got an A, but studied a good amount.

Eh. I didnt "need"this class per se, so I must say for a 100 level course, the exams are ridiculous. However, you are given everything you need to study and he is helpful, he also has a review the night before. 5 essays, he picks one. 90 ID terms, he picks 5. All in all, I wouldnt take.

Even though he can be all over the place in lecture, the man gives you all the questions on the exam prior. The best part is if you actually approach him and ask him, he will tell you exactly what he wants on the exam. I pulled a 90 on the first exam by basically attending class. He wants you to get an A. He's a really good man and very helpful.

He is a great professor. Funny. He is an easy grader. He expects people to be different (with unexpected comments) in the Honors seminar. He can be a bit dry and goes off on tangnt some times but stay in his honors seminar if you have any doubts.

i took the honors seminar: "how sex changed 20th century biomedical research." he is a fantastic classic college professor, which was important to me as an incoming freshman. go to class. it's not really going to be 3 hours long, he lets you out about halfway through. try to write a decent paper. he takes it seriously. he wants to give out As!

He's a nice guy. helps you a lot in the review sessions. He shows some video clips in the lectures and does other stuff to keep people engaged. The two exams aren't bad if you go to class and review the lecture notes and videos online.

Took 20th Century Sex Change with him. Great teacher, interesting. Attendance was not manditory, if you didn't want to come you didn't have to. DONT forget to title your papers. Be persuasive and confident in your writing. He judges things as if they would be published

Very lenient teacher. Presents a lot of material and expects you to synthesize it. As long as you do a decent job, he'll give you an A. He's the type of teacher that wants to give out A's. Pretty interesting lectures.

Good lecturer and very funny. He knows his stuff and won't bs you. Tests are a bit annoying:tons of ids and he picks a random 10. Two midterms, a final and a 7 pg paper. Just attend most lectures (he doesn't take attendance) and read all assigned readings and online materials. He's pretty good and I was never bored. Easy A.

Enjoyed his lectures. Lots of reading and id's for his test (gives many and picks five for test) but he always has review sessions and makes his class notes available on Sakai. I took both Dev of US 1 and 2 and would take a class by him again.

One of the best professors at Rutgers, keeps lecture interesting (I never wanted to miss one), very funny guy, passionate about his job, and extremely helpful. Half the time he'll mention something in lecture and say "If you don't know what that means go home and find out" aka "it's going to be on the exam". Would take any class taught by him again

By far the best history professor I've ever had. He's a PhD graduate from Harvard & has been at RU for 25+ years. Lectures were entertaining and the course will teach you a lot. Seemed to play a devil's advocate role against popular opinion from LBJ-Clinton which annoyed some people, but I think it opened my eyes some things never mentioned before.
