Comment:
DO NOT take honors physics if he is the professor. He gives you info in class which seems easy enough to understand but then the tests are literally ridiculous and not what you learned at all. The only reason I got the grade I did was because I took AP physics the year before. Buy the book for the Mastering Physics key but resell the physical book.

Professor Ryan is a quiet guy and had difficulty conveying information even in a studio class. He makes frequent numerical errors when doing problems and isn't very observant of what's going on. Has good intentions and a good guy but not quite fit for teaching.

Very quite talker, hard to pay attention to during lecture. Not very helpful. Doesn't seem to be very knowledgeable on the topic he is supposed to be teaching at times. Lots of busy work during class. However, he does seem to be a nice guy and he is very understanding if you have any issues and need any special help.

He is a very confusing teacher. He says one thing then contradicts it in the next sentence. Nice guy, but not a great teacher.

Easily the worst class I have ever taken. He lectures you on abitrary nonsense for 15 minutes then expects you to do numerous practice problems for an hour and a half with little to no help. If I hadn't taken physics in high school, I would not have passed this class. Avoid Prof. Ryan at all costs

Not a super fast mover, often takes a long time to say the same thing twice. Addresses questions, but often doesn't understand them. He really tries to be helpful, I think he just wasn't too thrilled with the subject matter in this class. Makes a lot of dad jokes.

Comment:
Very boring and ineffective lecturer. Long pauses between sentences. Essentially, you teach yourself physics from a thick packet of difficult problems in a group of 3. I don't feel I learned much of anything from this class, I would not take studio, given the option again. Exams progressively more difficult. Large scale though, expected D, got a B.

Tbe most boring and useless lectures I've ever had. He is knowledgeable, but lacks the ability to pass the knowledge to students. I found that i had to avoid asking him any questions because his answers left me more confused.

Professor Ryan tries really hard to be clear about the subject matter, but the fact is that astronomy is just a really hard course. There's a lot more math and physics involved than I was expecting. But he's super nice and drops the lowest test grade at the end of the semester. Also gives tons of extra credit if you want to do the extra work.

Really easy physical science with lab if you need it. Labs are mindless and ingot between 95-100 on all of them. The lectures are boring and unclear. I had to read every chapter in depth to get good grades on the hw and tests. Most yet questions are memorizing stuff instead of knowing concepts. Our substitute taught better than him.

He is okay at teaching, but I suggest studying before taking a test or doing homework. Attendance is mandatory and suggested because he uses clicker attendance. He is lost in space, literally its his life. Great subtle sense of humor. Not a bad class, but you do need to do the homework, read and keep up.

He's a really nice guy. Has a goofy sense of humor. He's a good teacher, sometimes he get a little too complicated, but very helpful in answering questions. Look up equations in your book for masteringphysics hw.

He's a great guy, and very funny! He's got a sense of humor and just works funny things into what he says, you have to listen for it. Go to office hours, they're helpful and he's a great guy to get to know. Great teacher, and anything that you are unclear with, he's great at helping you out. Online homework is hard at times, but helpful overall.

I had Ryan for Studio physics freshman year with absolutely no physics background; DO THE READING, it's designed so that you can't get by without it. And use this site for the webassign: http://www.candicedixon.com/AcademicAssistance/PhysicsSolutions.html
