Comment:
Cancelled 50% of the lectures, often without warning. Required that we used the bones for assignments, but would cancel class right before the assignment was due so no one got lab access. We were meant to have 3 weeks per assignment, but by the end of the term, we had not even 1 week each. Had to complain to the faculty to try and get a fair grade

An interesting man who knows his subject very well- it is difficult at times to discern what he expects from you, but overall as long as you show up to class, he is a very fair grader and it is not difficult to do well!

Powerpoints laid out everything you needed to know, and aren't too "wordy". Pop quizzes are fair. Exams are straightforward, if you attend class and review your notes (the usual, nothing crazy). Presentation requires going to the prof for help, in order to get insight for what references to use. Very nice, approachable, easy going. Learned a ton!

Surpassed by none in his pedagogical prowess, J $avs aka The King persevered through adverse health this semester and taught a phenomenal class about whales.

most useless teacher ever. nice guy, just doesn't actually teach anything. labs were elaborate guessing games, with no point. always cancelled class, took hours to figure out what the labs were even asking, due to lack of actual instruction. for a core course, this was simply unacceptable.

Awesome lab exercises -- you'll know if you like doing archaeological analysis after this class!! Nice, nice guy. Ask questions, even if he lets you think about them for a second or two before answering them, just to see if you've thought it through.

I thought the lectures were clear, but somewhat disjointed. I didn't learn very much pertaining to arch., but the assignments were interesting puzzles to be figured out... they took hours and hours of work but with effort it was unambiguous and easy enough to get an A.
