Schamus is brilliant. Haven't seen pompous - maybe previous posters don't get his sense of humor. Very approachable and helpful outside of class, engaging and full of information inside of class. Columbia students are unused to professors who have knowledge. Schamus is one of the few.

Very smart- can see how he could be seen as pompus, but I was lucky enough to have him in a small seminar and it was one of the most intellectually rigourus classes I've taken.
