Overall a great guy, and you could not ask for a better person. His tests are difficult, but if you put forth any effort it is impossible to fail. You have to put work into this class to get a grade, but as long as you work hard and show effort you will get at least a B.

Biggest heart from a professor I have ever seen. Couldn't imagine anyone with one bigger. Just do the work and you should at least get a B, it's almost impossible to fail.

Dr. Schmidt is an excellent professor with a huge heart. So caring and compassionate toward his students. Just an overall amazing person. The class is tough, but so interesting (especially lab).I hated chemistry before taking his class, but with a professor that is willing to go the extra mile for their students it doesn't have to be so terrible.

Best chemistry teacher I've ever had. I took his class as a visiting student from Marshall. Extremely nice and friendly guy. I would recommend him over any professor in the chemistry department at Marshall.

He is one of the best chemistry professors I've ever had. I actually pulled off an A in organic with him. His tests are difficult, but he gives lots of credit for homework and worksheets. If you do all the assigned work, your chances of getting a good grade are great. He's very helpful and open to talking to students. I am taking him again for organic 2 for sure. Highly recommended.

An incredible instructor that would never hesitate to help you at least try to understand the material. Organic chemistry is very difficult for most people. Its been about 10 years since I have taken his class, and I can still remember some of details of how steel is made! (:

Dr. Schmidt is a good guy. He is a bit quiet, so sit close to front. Lectures are not well-organized...if don't read the book...don't expect to pass! He is very helpful & wants all students to learn & pass, so if you show a lot of effort & hardwork, he'll give you credit for it & "help you out" as much as he can! Do HWK & extra credit, worth it!

Dr. Schmidt is an extremely nice guy, but he's not a great teacher. He reads directly from his power point notes with no real explanation of the reactions or mechanisms. He will pass anyone that tries. Don't expect to learn a lot if you are not an extremely self-motivated person.

A little unorganized, but a great teacher if you have to take Organic Chemistry. He believes that all students have the right to pass if they are willing to put out an effort. From 1 to 10 he is a 9.
