I don't understand how this class could be hard. If you study from the notes, and if you read the book and make notes from it, you should do fine. I missed half of the classes, and I think I got the highest grade on the last test.

Nice professor, just very bad at teaching. Many of the things he said made no sense. The exams had almost no correlation at all to his lectures. He is really funny but kind of sucks at teaching.

I agree with the criticism below. Previous reviewers state this class is easy. Understand those reviews were posted before Prof. Trela made tests overly difficult (no one ever achieved a perfect score), included essay portions that the class majority performed poorly upon, did not offer extra credit (with the exception of small curves), and more.

continue...the chapters a lot that he doesn't even know what chapter we are on. don't except a high grade on his exams, they are pretty complicated and no pattern what so ever. he will give you like five questions or less from the exam but the rest of the questions come out from his "personal" theories. I was 1 point away from and A & he refused to let me do any extra credit b/c I was NOT a suck up in his class. He's NOT CLEAR AT ALL. He should have retired like 10 years ago. You may want to rethink taking any of his Grad course, it's a blurr what I learned from his course.

Alright guy, kind of a jerk. Lecture is boring and not mandatory, read the text and his black board site. Exams are easy if you read both. Don't come to class late, it's ok to skip, if you come late you will be publicly flogged.

dropped this class after the first exam. trela is a good person, but difficult teacher. the exam questions came out of nowhere. boring lectures which don't cover much of the exam material

Exams are poorly worded (very wordy) and directs you to the TA if you have any questions. Do not e-mail the guy; he never responds. Talk to him in person. Nice guy, boring class, easy A.

As an engineering major, I could only devote ~2 hours to each exam and I got above 100% on 3/4 exams. Pay attention to his lectures and memorize names, definitions, and statistics from his slides and you'll be fine. As a lecturer, he is a bit unorganized but has interesting stories and isn't afraid to speak the constroversial truth at times.

Trela is an easy grader and likes to joke around in class. Lectures are usually okay, but not very organized, which drove me nuts. I also think he likes to show off, which I found quite irritating. Overall, a good prof, but I didn't find him approachable one-on-one, and he seemed a bit arrogant to me.

Hard and mean!He would yell at people for coming to class late. Told one kid to "GET OUT" and made it a point to embarrass anybody that walked in late. Bored out of my mind. Talked in circles and his exams were tough. I got a 42/50 on the last exam but all the other ones I got Ds on. I didn't know where half the questions were coming from.

One of the worst professors I had last semester. His lectures made no sense and they were incredibly boring. His exams didn't reflect the book at all and the exam questions were poorly worded. I would definitely suggest taking sociology 101 with a different, easier professor.

Took his class my freshman year and really enjoyed it. He curves exams and gives out sample multiple choice questions ahead of time. Huge class though, so I never actually got to speak to him face to face. Oh, and read the online readings, there are a couple questions on the exams about them.
