Wanted to like this class (Lat Amer & Caribb Studies) but she made me hate it. Work is ridiculous. She assigns 2 documentaries per day which costs 3 hours alone and then 2 sets of questions each Ch., a quiz, and reading 2X 50pg Ch per night. I had an issue playing a video. Emailed her & she said it worked for her. Enjoys talking about herself a lot

All Spanish classes have homework, so there will be something due by the beginning of each class. She takes participation grades, so just answer a question each class bring your book & you'll be golden. Tests aren't easy but not super hard either. Just actually try and you'll be fine. She's honestly really nice & respects people who give a crap.

Dr. Owens is the worst professor that I have had at the college. For starters, she is not a nice lady. Her assignments are hard and she will not help you whatsoever if you go in for feedback or explanations. Made me dislike Spanish so much. Would never take again. If you are considering taking her, don't.

Dr. Owens is a great professor. She is clear in her instructions and she makes herself available if you need extra help. She responds quickly to e-mail, and she does not mind if you receive help from other students in the class. You will learn a lot, and I highly recommend her!

I really enjoy this class, but I wish class attendance was not so strict. Homework is mandatory, but there was only one test this semester (a midterm) and no final exam (the final is a 5-7 min. powerpoint and a 3 page paper, research). There are only three short papers the whole semester and there is always a chance to get back 10 points on each).

MY FAVORITE CLASS IN THE 3 YEARS I HAVE SPENT AT THE COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON. DR. OWENS MAKES CLASS HONESTLY AN ENJOYABLE, INTERESTING & THOUGHT-PROVOKING EXPERIENCE. TAKE HER FOR HIGHER LEVEL COURSES. SHE WILL MOST DEFINITELY APPRECIATE AND FAVOR STUDENTS WHO ARE MORE ENGAGED. LOVE HER!

Homework every class. Must attend class and bring course back&book with you. In the beginning she's strict--everyone was getting 75 on their papers (b4 rewrites). To get a good grade, get a native speaker to read your papers. The lang lab is not always helpful, but go there so she knows you're putting in effort. You'll have to WORK for your grade!

She is amazing... her class is never boring and she will do anything to help students with anything. I loved her class, especially playing jeopardy! she makes the class interesting. There is a lot of homework and quizes throughout the semester, but her class is not hard if you study.

Dr. Owens is a wonderful professor. There's homework, but not tons, all from manual and all due on the same day. Speaks spanish in class, but is effective and understandable, goes slow so that she is understood. She's very helpful and encourages students to be theirself. Great teacher.

Only speaks spanish, but slowly so that we understand. Explains things well. Cheesy group work, as always. Tests are straight forward, if you know the material you'll be fine. A presentation and one (easy) verbal exam. Highly recommend.
