We literally did nothing in his class for an entire semester, and then at the end he gave us a take home final which I thought I did very well on. I then received a B without even knowing why! I participated and went to class everyday and I honestly have no idea how I did not get an A. I regret wasting my time in this class!AVOID!!!!

Was intimidating at first. But looking back, he was clear on what you had to do to get a good grade. BARELY HAD ANY HOMEWORK, besides reviewing notes! Had 3 easy 5 minute oral quizzes and 1 fair final exam. Just show up, be on your toes, and REVIEW. Not a bad professor, just get used to his attitude. Was byfarmy easiest class in terms of workload.

DO NOT EVER TAKE THIS MAN'S CLASS. Not only does Father Walsh devote inordinate amounts of time to basic concepts and gloss over extremely complex ideas, but he is rude and arrogant while he does it. He frequently insults students clearly to boost his own ego, and seems to take joy in making them feel stupid. Take this if you want a bad grade.

Father Walsh knows what he's talking about although the class is somewhat boring. Attendance is mandatory and there are two projects that students must do. Only one test which was the final! He was not clear with majority of his assignments and when questioned he was always unclear and left students even more confused! His grading is arbitrary.

Hes a very nice man and tries to help his students. I will give him that. His grading system is uncomprehendable. He screwed me over at the end and was trying to signify a point that I never really got; and probably will never understand. I wish I never took his class. Plus, he thinks hes the bomb, when really he isnt.

Agreeing with an earlier post, Fr Walsh is incredible! You learn so much that you don't expect to in a BibLit class, his lectures are very enjoyable. All you have to do is review a little b4 class for his quizzes almost every other class and give 110% effort on the final project and you will do very well. Would def. recommend for Theo requirement!

Though Professor Walsh may at first be overwhelming, the skills I learned in his class will prove invaluable for my future. His grading system is extremely unclear, but fair nonetheless. All the translations he provides are done by him; he is extremely intelligent and may prove more useful in a higher level theology class than just BibLit.

Father Walsh is a great guy, and his lectures are enjoyable. The only problem is that you only capture about 50 percent of what he says in class because half is muttered under his breath, but he expects you to know it all. This class is extremely difficult if you don't have any previous knowledge of the Bible, despite what he says.

Walsh's class is INCREDIBLE. I don't care that I have no idea how he calculated our grades - he's brilliant (every reading we used, he translated himself), his teaching style is innovative, he pushes you and makes you think, and he's a nice guy who cares about his students. I wish this class lasted a year. Take it, and you won't regret it.

I do all of the readings, always come to class, study, and still do extremely poorly on his ridiculous quizzes. Fr. Walsh can be conceited and aloof, but also funny. He will try to sell you with his supposedly innovative instruction method, but it really doesn't work for me or for many others. He is a nice man, but not an effective teacher.

Father Walsh was the best teacher I ever had. The fact that he has so many negative reviews only confirms for me that the world is full of clueless morons who go to class with a consumer mentality. It is true that he is not interested in entertaining or coddling. Go in with an open mind, ask questions, do the reading, and you'll get an A.

Fr. Walsh should probably not be teaching anymore. He appears to have little interest in his students. And Pfordresher can only compensate so much. I was excited to take this class but I left it disappointed. Avoid at all costs, or live with the consequences.

I found Father Walsh very entertaining. I enjoyed this class and would def consider taking another class from him. Attendance is a must, there's no syllabus so I don't know how you could follow his teaching style if you miss classes. There was no midterm and almost all the small quizzes and the final were multiple choice and relatively challenging.

I had Fr. Walsh as a freshman for Bib Lit and as a senior for Catholic Imagination, 12-15 years ago. He was very confusing, but this was good. He shook me and others out of our small worldviews. I understood very little of the class during the class, but the few things I understood were life-transforming. I only appreciated this years later.

Not sure how he determined final grade but the class is very interesting. I wish there was a 2nd part to this class b/c there is just so much you can do with this subject. Very interesting guest speakers, watch a lot of movie clips, analyze comic strips, letter to the editors etc. Make sure you do the assignments exactly like he says. No midterm.

Not sure why he teaches because he doesn't really seem to care about where the class is going. As everyone's said before, you have no idea what your grade is until it is arbitrarily assigned at the end. Also, has creepily long fingernails.
