Haha! I love the former comment. True he is smartest and most difficult professor at Georgetown. This class became my world and hell after about 3 weeks. He now teaches another course that looks very interesting but I'm not taking it because he's the teacher. You have been warned.

Mathews may be the hardest professor at georgetown, but also maybe the smartest. He is completely fair and a very nice guy. Don't take this class unless you're ready to kill yourself with work though.

The fact that I did not kill myself before this class was over is a miracle from God. I worked my butt off for this class and still couldn't tell you where the big dipper is...after 3 months. Tests leave you feeling like an idiot. Only up-side is after all that misery I still ended up with a B+.

I hated this class. To be fair, he is a nice guy and tries to help (but really cant explain). Class is a total waste of time, tests are impossible for most (thank god for the curve!). If youre not really intersted, DONT take the class.

Okay, so Mathews is kind of hard, but to be fair, he grades the whole class on a curve, and since no one does that well, as long as you try to understand and aren't horrible at physics you should be okay. And go to his office hours, hes really nice and tries to help as much as possible.

The problems, homework, etc. are hard and the class average on exams hovers somewhere around 50-60% The lectures are insanely boring, but he is really passionate about the subject. He puts a very nice curve on the final grades, though, so as long as you do the work, He won't give you less than a C

I liked the class but I'm the only one. Mathews is a nice guy but not an intersting lecturer. Boring slides, hard homwork and lots of quizzes. If you are interested in astronomy take the class, but it is NOT easy and you must work hard.

NOT a class if you dont like physics and tons of impossible math. if you actually do all the work, youll spend an insane amount of time and still not be able to do the homework or get over a 80 on the tests. extremely boring lectures that have absolutely nothing to do with what he'll test you on
