Comment:
James Wang is a really nice man but not the best lecturer. He uploads his notes to Blackboard which were very helpful and clear. He lectures straight from the notes so as long as you study the notes, you won't miss anything. Tests and grading was very fair, nothing came up that had not been covered. If you get perfect attendance you get 5% bonus.

Definitely the worst professor I've had at UA. Would definitely recommend taking someone else in the summer. I had to teach myself all the material, and quite honestly didn't put enough time into doing that. He seems like a nice old man, but he was actually pretty condescending when I went in for help. Couldn't really understand him while lecturing

I am a sophomore taking differential equations with Dr. Wang. Out of my 2 years at UA he has been the worst professor I've had. His lectures are awful because he mumbles through them and skips steps as he writes on the white board. Be ready to teach yourself EVERYTHING.

Dr. Wang is a nice person, just sometimes cannot explain materials very well. As long as you know how to write rigorous proof, it will be an easy A for you. Most students who complain about his class do not know how to study math, not Dr. Wang's problems.

James Wang is a very sweet old man, but is not a good lecturer. However, he is willing to discuss problems outside of class and in labs. Be sure to complete homework a day early for 10% extra homework credit, and heavily study from the practice tests/ textbook. Overall, this class is passable, but you will need to work for your grade.

Wang is such a sweet guy! There is a language barrier. Just reads off slides. Lots of homework, but you can find most of it online. After he gives a test back he will dedicate that class day to go over the test & allows you to go up to him after class and receive partial credit which averages into about 10pts you can get added back to your score.

Professor Wang is an old asian man with a thick accent. He's very hard to understand but you get used to it. If you take Wang for Diff Eq be ready to put in lots of time on your own. I had to teach myself a good quarter of the material. This aside though, Professor Wang is a really nice man and tries his best. Not nearly the end of the world.

If you want to teach yourself every bit of material in this class take Wang. His lectures are confusing because he does not explain what he is doing on the board very thoroughly, his notes are scattered across the board, and he often skips steps. His tests are not that difficult but make sure you watch youtube videos on the material. Do not take.

Comment:
Dr. Wang is one of the nicest professors I've had, but his English does make class a little rough. Really, it's not a matter of understanding him so much as it is one of being able to ask questions- if he doesn't understand you at first, keep asking until he does. His lectures can be dull, but tests (100% of grade) are verbatim from the homework.

This class is borderline impossible if you haven't taken calc before. Wang has a very thick accent and does not teach well. I taught myself the entire course using the homework and tutors. Tests are tough but close enough to the review. If you attend every class you get 5% ec and he curves at the end too. Homework every night. Take another prof.

This is by far the hardest class I have ever taken, mainly because of the professor. No matter how hard you try, you will not be able to understand him. In just one semester, we had 75+ graded homework and quizzes that were not easy. The tests are IMPOSSIBLE. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TAKE HIM. WAIT A SEMESTER FOR A BETTER PROFESSOR. IMPOSSIBLE.

He doesn't explain what he is doing in the problem and expects us to know each step. He also messes up on test answers and then we take the lash from the mistake.

Homework almost daily (but it isn't due the very next day). Tests are tough but not impossible. Lectures are crazy hard to understand and his handwriting isn't the best. Go to office hours and he helps you. Ask questions. LOTS of extra credit for attendance so make sure you go! If you've taken Calc 1 before, you'll be fine :)

A nice, soft spoken, old asian man with an accent. I couldn't understand him when he spoke, even with the microphone he spoke into. His handwriting was also indecipherable at times. Eventually you catch on to how he writes things. Bonus for perfect attendance. Online homework that is really easy and helpful (shows worked out solutions).

I had him two semesters in a row, cal3 and difeq. He has a pretty heavy accent; it's something you get used to if you listen. He has a consistent style - ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU HAVE THEM OR ARE CONFUSED; he'll explain. Usually works examples in class. Tests aren't that hard and correlate with the homework, which you should do. The textbook is helpful

I love Professor Wang. I took this course at a community college and the content is very similar. His method of instruction is consistent and he presents ideas in a clear and concise manner. He's a sweet person.

Avoid if you can. THIS CLASS IS FOR PEOPLE WHO ALREADY REALLY GOOD AT CALCULUS. He will not teach you much. Homework and reviews do not correlate to exam. He's a rather poor explainer. He gives bonus points for attendance. He does math in messy cursive. He was really unhelpful.

Not a fantastic teacher, but it's just calc 3, so just reading the textbook is all you'll probably need. Plenty of online resources if you just google it. Homework is worth a ton, and required. Honestly, you get five tries on every homework problem, and it gives you the key after one guess, so always do it even if you just copy the answers it give.

My friends and I call him the "Wong" professor. He is awful. Very hard to understand during class. He will begin a problem and then not finish because he can't figure it out. His tests are ridiculous, and he doesn't give you enough time for you to complete them. We were also assigned over 60 homeworks and quizzes.

I took calculus in high school which is the ONLY reason I'm passing. Nicest guy ever but hard to communicate with. And tests aren't easy either. Covers information that was never covered in high school. Homework and quizzes are online and aren't too hard. Attend class every single day to get 5 bonus points.
