Yao's class was an easy A. A few online assignments, attendance for lectures, and labs were all the class consisted of. The lab assignments are literally just reading instructions and doing them; you have to TRY to do poorly on them. There was a midterm, but it was a simple APA report on Jack Kilby. I am taking him again next semester.

You won't really learn much from him but if you're looking for an easy A and you have to take this class then it doesn't really matter. The lecture is long but everyone just sits there on their computers and doesn't listen because it's irrelevant to what we are learning. The lab is easy. You just copy out of the book.

Does not explain anything in a clear way. Gives pop quizzes and takes points off for not being there. The final group project he did not care to explain at all. His midterm and final were ridiculous and had the smallest little details that you would never think to study. My first C. Honestly try your hardest to not take him

Class is boring. 1 midterm online and 1 final online. Assignments can be difficult and time consuming, but in the end you actually learn from the home works. Directions on the assignments are very confusing and unclear. Do-able class. Not too difficult. Get the textbook it will help!

You need to be really interested in the subject to like this class. Very monotone, and all homework you pretty much have to teach yourself before he teaches you. Even then, he doesn't really teach it. Late class, for 2 hours? Instant nap.

very generous when grading HM/Lab. They worth 40% of your final grade. Doesnt teach much of what is going to be on the exams, mid term an final online but soo hard. ok progessor but subject is hard. I guess no choice since he is the only one who teaches the class

not very clear..not alot of assignments besides the exams and random quizzes which are online..you'd think thats a good thing but when he does nothing all semester you dont really learn anything and when it comes time to take the test it's really hard.

I came into this class knowing nothing about programming and such... he tells funny stories. i dont think he taught much of what was on the exams so you have to read and understand the material. online exams. soo difficult :( but if this is your thing. hey go for it.

Not an easy easy class if you don't study. All tests are online take home, therefor open book, however you must have an understanding of the material because there is a time limit. Overall not too much home work, just make sure to download and review power points for tests. He does take attendance and gives "popup quizes" so show up and take notes

if you want to know what is being taught in the class, expect to do a lot of reading. Material taught is outdated. With that said just pay attention and read the chapters and you should do fine. pop-up quizzes, 2 labs and 3 papers for the course, all fairly easy to do. passed the class with an A- which is what i deserved, no curve was given.

Quizes are definitely pretty weird...and many students did poor, however at the end he still gave me an A. Very helpful teacher..if you work with him personally, he'll help you out a LOT. Project: I finally have MASTERED Access thanks to Prof. Yao. You'll do fine, and hopefully you'll get a lot of out the class. Don't sweat it...

worst professor. Left for three weeks to go to china. classes are boring...exams are take home but pretty hard. If you don't pay attention to what his examples are from class, you are screwed.
