Comment:

Dr. Gerber is probably the best but most challenging teacher I have had at Auburn. He teaches he information really well and it corresponds with the reading. The reading is essential to doing well. He is a very difficult grader and is very subjective. He gave me three 88's on all my exams. Which really sucked, but i learned a lot in the class.

The guy comes off very dry and uninteresting. He reads off his slides and plays videos almost every class, and they are very boring. I wish he stayed retired because this class could have been a lot more enjoyable without him. Probably my least favorite teacher I have had in my time in Auburn.

Do not take this guy--he's a huge jerk and does not care if his students understand his class or not. He's very moody and can get angry with the class for no reason. He is not helpful and is unnecessarily hard.

Very challenging teacher. All our tests were essay. Lectures were monotone, but full of info. Honestly, the info was some of the most useful I got out of any class at AU.

Comment:

Dr. Gerber is a great teacher. He will not baby you though. If you are a freshman and are not planning on majoring in history and/or have no love of history don't take him. Otherwise, if you do your reading, which is only around 100-200 pages a week, you will be fine. He gives you ample warning for papers and tests but he does grade fairly hard.

he was the worst teacher i've EVER had! i was in his office EVERYDAY asking him for help and he was not helpful AT ALL! i could not seem to get anything higher than a 50 on ANY of his tests.. even though i read each chapter THREE times & went to class EVERY day! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!

I thought this a was pretty easy course. Just learn how to take notes and how to read a book efficiently and you will do fine, I know that ask for alot from a freshman, but most of the information is interesting.

I have never had a harder teacher than this man. His tests were impossible ranging from everything to random map questions, short answer, essays, material in the book never talked about and extensive notes. HORRIBLE class, and his voice is a mix between the teacher in charlie brown and the teacher on Ferris Beulers day off & dryeyes get clear eyes.

He is so hard, impossible so boring and just awful! DO NOT TAKE HIM! His class covers so much information. Dont take history at Auburn, but if you have to find someone else to take it with. He is impossible! good chance you will FAIL!

Although you do have to study he is a very good teacher. I have to say that I learned more about history in his class than I ever had before. Weekly quizzes are a piece of cake. Go to class though.

Easy class if you know how to take notes, maybe a little more difficult if you don't really know how. Weekly quiz was easy, and the test comes straight from notes....hince good notes make it easy...

SO HARD!I studied for atleast 3 days for all of his tests and never made an A!The tests are hard and there is a lot of reading.He does give good notes and has a good outline,I will give him that.But, that is the only good thing about him.DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if you want to remain sane!Please do NOT register for this class!

HE SUCKS!!!! that is the bottom line. i made an a in the first history and basically failed the second. if you can get out of his class, do. he is impossible and not helpful at all. he is quite possibly the worst teacher i have ever had.

The tests were IMPOSSIBLE. He is no help. I went to every class and every SI session and still was making F's on the test. He thinks his class is the only one that matters.
