She is super sweet and funny! You will have quite a bit of reading and weekly quizzes, but the quizzes are more for completion and the readings we go over in depth in class so it's not a big deal. We have quite a few short papers, but they are super easy and she grades very fairly. This course was super laid back and interesting. Great for gen eds!

Mrs. Bardsley was extremely approachable and friendly in her office hours. I am not in the honors college, nor did I have prior knowledge of Asia of the opera. I received a clear explanation on every grade that I received and improved a lot because of this. As long as you put forth a reasonable effort, there is no reason you should not get an A.

She is the most amazing woman and professor. She is so kind, caring, and patient. She is always willing to meet outside of class, is enthusiastic, and is a fair grader. If you attend class, take her feedback, and show interest in the course, you will do great!!

Dr. Bardsley is one of the BEST professors I have had during my time at UNC. She is outgoing, evocative, as well as hilarious all at the same time. She is very passionate about Japanese women's literature and you get a chance to read her translation which was great. I recommend her if you need GEN-EDs or are interested in Japan. She's a gem.

Dr. Bardsley is absolutely wonderful! She is extremely passionate about the subject matter, makes class fun, and cares a lot about students. Her passion and bubbliness have this infectious quality that stimulates great class discussions. Although there is quite a bit of reading and work, the material is interesting and she's a lenient grader.

She is a great teacher. There is a lot of reading, and the course got somewhat dry after a month. The topics are more or less interesting, however. Even though there is a lot of work, she grades easy and allows resubmissions for full credit.

This class has a lot of reading but there are no tests and it fulfills 3 Gen-Eds. There are 5 essays and a research paper but it really isn't bad. The essays are mostly creative and you just have to demonstrate you "did" the reading. Very lenient grader.

Professor Bardsley *made* my freshman experience. She was a phenomenal FYS professor and made the adjustment into college life so wonderfully tolerable. You can't really fail her class if you pay attention - nearly everything is essay based and if you have an opinion, you're good to go. Just try to speak up and she'll give you credit.

If you just read the material the class is a breeze. There are no right or wrong answers, she just wants to know you've given the text some though.
