If you are an art student, I don't advise you to take her class. Like someone else mentioned below, she relies on all youtube videos to demonstrate techniques and often shows previous student work examples. We're half-way through the quarter and I regret signing up for this class.

I saw this class as an exercise to expand your creativity attributes to think and observe everything around you to create your work.

To be honest I didn't really like her all that much. She didn't really go over techniques (mostly relied on videos) and kind of left it up to the person. I wanted to learn new things to do with my material, but there were no real demonstrations. The first hour was always wasted on reviewing everyone's work too, when I wanted to draw.

I absolutely loved her. She helped me out so much, taught me some new techniques, and was a very understanding and pleasant teacher. Absolutely lovely.

After taking ART8 in spring, I joined her ART4B summer class. Marcia is very encouraging and nice. First time feel sad after finishing the class. She's helpful if you have any questions and goes around to make sure she gets to every student. Hope to find other art classes teach by her.

Yes, it's an easy A, but it's a quite a LOT of work for a 3 unit/beginning art class. First assignment is 8 pages, second is like 5-6, etc. I think this should be a 4 unit class. Overall, expect to spend HOURS on this class but she gives you lots of class time though to do work. Very sweet though and gives you feedback as you're working.

Very easy class, EASY A. If you follow her guidelines you always get an A. She is a very kind and helpful person. But, I learned very little, an I was rarely inspired. Also she does not use computers and does not communicate with the bookstore, so DO NOT buy the kit, there's stuff in there u don't need. buy a la carte and save money!

She is an awesome prof but just that sometimes I think she is TOO easy (in grades lol)... I learned very little from class. However, that gives me a lot of freedom in doing what I want in the projects and I am very satisfied with my work resulted from that freedom and exploration. 7 projects in total. Take her! :D

She is one of the best professor in De Anza. I took 3 classes with her, and it was best classes ever. She is extremely helpful, and funny. If you follow her topics, and do your job, you can take A very easily.

Overheard her talking to another student who asked Briggs why she wanted to become teacher, just said " Oh, I didnt really but you cant make money sitting at home". didn't motivate me to try after hearing this.

Just gives you an automatic A. If you're looking for an easy class where you don't learn anything take her. Even if your work sucks, she will say its great. If you want to learn about art and be challenged (in a good way)and get better in your art skills take ENGEL or KANG. I learned nothing about drawing the figure, no demos, no teaching, nothing.

The class is very easy, and miss Brigs is nice. However, i did not learn a single thing. it is a good class to take for an easy A, but you do not need it as advisory for any other art class. She basicly gives everybody an A (even the most unrelated and ugly work), and the critique she gives of peoples work is unhelpful. DON"T BUY THE BOOK! IT IS
