Also took him for CY 347&411&research. A very intelligent man who cares about his students and their future success. Wants you to understand the concept rather than make a good grade. Very forgiving when it comes to grading and deadlines. If he is in his office or lab, he will stop what he's doing to help you. Book not required but sorta helpful.

He is a good teacher. I see a lot of CY 105 students complaining. Most students wants easy grades and that's not how to learn. He is a good professor and very diverse.

I've had this man for 5 classes so far. I'd spent ten years in the dark before returning to school and he was a help and an inspiration. He has a passion for quantum mechanics and every lecture he gave us on the subject was like a benevolent jewel of knowledge. TAKE HIM ... well odds are if you're in cal based P. Chem. you'll have to take him.

He likes to ramble on about history rather than teach his class. I would ask him to explain something to me when class ended and he just told me to go to tutoring. I found some things he said to be difficult to understand because of his accent. He was not willing to help. He's very pretentious and acts better than everyone because he is European.

DO NOT TAKE HIM! This class is so difficult! I am struggling to pass with a C! He asks the class if a topic is clear but moves on when someone doesn't understand a concept anyway. He is a nice man but just doesn't know to deliver when it comes to teaching a chemistry course. Avoid him!!

I did well, but Jesus, it was hard. This isn't a intro class. I mean it technically is, but he makes it way too tough for what it should be. The only grades are the 4 tests and Final. Tests are hard, grading is tough, and you have to really know what your doing inside and out to be able to understand the tests later in the class.

I had to drop. I understand college isn't 13th grade but an introductory chemistry class isn't grad school. I have a 3.7 and loved to keep that way; that's why I dropped. He's nice, hardworking. Even had study sessions after class. HE TAUGHT US ON HIS OWN TIME. So he's great in that regards. But his test are insanely hard. I made D on both.

Also took 342,411,&research. Holy crap at the reviews, college is NOT 13th grade. Yes, his class is difficult but not impossible. He loves science and teaching. I spent more time with him than anyone & can give you an honest review. At the end of the term, you get what you put in. If you want to master a subject, take him. For an easy pass, don't.

Horrible teacher! Instead of wanting to make sure you learn the basics he wants you to know everything. Test are way more complicated than necessary and he will not curve even if everyone in the class fails. As a person he is wonderful but as a professor awful do not take him!!

Dr. Gryko is very smart and loves chemistry. His class is super hard. You have to study at least 2 weeks prior to the test and his homework is absolutely horrible when he makes it out himself. He expects you to know the material and if you dont, you are in big trouble.

If you don't know chemistry already, don't take this class. Gryko is too smart to teach an intro class. You are already expected to know a lot of chemistry. He offers no extra credit. I struggled with this class and barely passed. Coming from someone who makes A's and works hard in school, I would not recommend this teacher.

Praise Jesus for Dr. Gryko! He is a great professor who likes to scale his tests very generously. His tests are hard, and you definitely have to study before you take one. His class is rather boring, but compared to all other chemistry teachers, Gryko is the one to take.

His tests are very challenging, but organic chemistry is just a complicated subject. His accent is really only an obstacle when trying to ask questions. His class is pretty entertaining and in organic it's filled with bits of random history about medicines and chemicals with plenty of "commercial breaks".
