Jan will literally change your life if you let her. She is my biggest inspiration. If I could go and just take classes from her, I would be extraordinarily happy. Learn from her every moment, because her wisdom is infinite, and she has all the love in the world for you.

I feel so lucky to have had the chance to take a class with Jan. She's been such an incredible impact on us- everyday we grow into stronger actors. She cares so much about the material and is so passionate about theatre. She is a TOUGH grader. Be prepared to work! Truthfully though, the work is SO worth what you get out of it. Love this class!

Jan is an inspirational prof who will teach you about the more... Abstract side of performing. She will break down your habits, and build you back up again with new, solid foundations. She isn't always super clear about what she wants from you, but she's guaranteed to help you grown as a performer for sure.

Jan was a fun professor! However, I was sometimes unsure of what she was looking for in our performance projects, and as such, was occasionally baffled by the marks I received (good and bad). She sets high standards, and expects you to learn from your mistakes and victories. I found her to be very encouraging and full of interesting bits of wisdom.

Jan is a very nice lady! However, she is very unclear in her instructions and is always disorganized. She gave lots of feedback which is great however the feedback can alter between constructive and confusing. I would never recommend this prof which is too bad she's very sweet

Jan has been teaching this class forever and it shows in how experienced she is. She knows her stuff. She's extremely helpful outside of class and is always available to talk about process. She's a very hard marker though. B's are very common. Hardly any A's given. She's sometimes unclear but take this class with her because she's lovely.

At first I wasn't crazy about Jan. She's tough, and the material felt too basic. But you start to realize that she is breaking you down and building you back up as an actor, eliminating your bad habits. She is a hard marker, and she sees right through any lack of effort. Don't enroll in her class unless you are serious about acting.

I really loved Jan as a person, but I found that as the semester went on the classes got repetitive. She was very clear that she would not give easy As just because this was drama, so don't take her class for a good grade. It helps if she likes you, so get in her good books. Her class is a fun start to your morning!

An AMAZING prof. Her teaching style isn't for everyone, but if you're interested in the Meisner approach to acting, her lessons and teaching style will work wonders for you. She is extremely friendly, and while she may seem a bit intimidating, she is always willing to help or clarify things. I can't wait to take more classes with her.

Jan is an AMAZING person, a great prof for the class. A very hard marker, you need to really be engaged and participate in class a lot to get high marks. You will get a lot out of the class, even if you're not a Drama person. Super fun, nice break from lecture classes. It can be a frustrating class in terms of the long warm ups, but it is worth it!

Jan is great when in her element. Drama 240 is not her element. She has extremely high expectations; especially when it comes to involvement/participation in class. Her assignments tend to be the same format and each class is practically the same. (Each class is started with a 20-35 minute ridiculous centering/stretching exercise). Take her for 150

It was very clear within the first two weeks who her favorites were in the class. She marks incredibly hard, and is very vague and confusing when giving out assignments. She made me dislike drama and feel very self-conscious about my work. Her feedback was very vague. Got on my nerves. However, I did learn a lot and grow as an actor and a person.

This class is great if you are sure that drama is your major, but is definitely a weeding class. There is a lot of abstract work, which can make guidelines unclear. This class is great for forming relationships, and she was an awesome mentor. She's an amazing clown, too!
