Comment:

Omg students were a tough bunch. A girl noticeably laid her head down to sleep many times saying "I read the book" which may've offended Ms Wu because she's RECOGNIZED for her notes!(And you NEED the teacher's notes to understand). Don't wear hats, can't eat or drink, even gum. Probably strict because of dealing with the distracted and disresptful.

Comment:

A class with people who ditch or want to be difficult makes the class worse. She writes outlines on the board which are interesting. I personally liked her style of notes. If you struggle with history, you will better understand overall concepts, but not necessarily details. Didn't like that we had to read novels outside of just learning the text.

She has take home tests but they are all essays. Every answer needed to be 1 to 2 pages long. You have to also read a book. By far the hardest class I've ever taken at COD.

Don't get me wrong she is a nice lady, but I will never take another class with her. Her lectures are hard to sit through;her grading is even worse. I got an A on my first paper and then a D on the next one. What was the difference between the two? I used information outside of her lectures. At least 75% of the class dropped by midterms. Beware.

I got an A in here class, but not because she is a good teacher. She talks to her students like they are small children. There was a test question that she didnt cover in lecture nor was it in the book. Her lectures are so boring and she loses track of what she is saying and ends up saying irrelevant crazy things. She is also incredibly rude.

TERRIBLE TEACHER!! I am a history major and I seriously contemplated switching after being put through her class. You can't understand her lectures, she focuses on the wrong topics, totally rude to questions. Lectures were not very clear. Overall bad experience. Never again should anyone take her class. History can be taught better than that.

Very smart, insightful, and passionate about teaching. Stresses LOGICAL thinking above ANYTHING else. Slight language barrier, but nothing you can't understand. Hard on her students, but only because she cares about their success. Lecture-type, has an outline for each lecture. Attendance necessary for passing grade.

Professor Wu is very intelligent and passionate about history and teaching. She has high expectations for her students, but her class is definitely manageable if you take notes and ask questions. She is very personable and invests in the lives of her students. I learned a lot from this class and recommend her as a professor.

Large language and culture barrier. Hard to track and disorganized. Projects are tough and uninteresting. I cant belive she is recieving awards. Thats like Al Roker being commended for his personal fitness

Wu is very old-fashioned. Kind of hard to understand initially, but you get used to it and it's not a big deal. You have to go to her classes. Her outlines and taking notes are imperative for the tests. Not that hard of a grader on papers. VERY kind. Means well. Loves to help you. I'd take her again.

WORST TEACHER EVER! I was sick with mono and asked her to email me a test we had. She refused! This is class was extremely boring and a lot of people end up dropping or they just stop coming to class. Avoid this teacher and all her classes!

I had very high hopes for this class and was extremely interested in learning about China and it's culture. This teacher ruined it for me. It was extremely hard to keep up with her and she contantly went off topic. She is a very tough grader. Overall, this class was boring and useless. Also, dont buy the book for East Asian Civ...you never use it.

Dear God.. she graded essays harder than my Honors English teachers. It's almost impossible to get an A in her class. I worked my butt off and still ended up with a low B. If you don't pay attention for 2 minutes in her class, you will miss a LOT. If your wording is even a bit off, she will mark your essay grades SO LOW. It was rediculous.
