Comment:

I really enjoyed Professor Bauer's Immigrants and Refugees course! She gives great lectures! Make sure to pay attention, and show her that you care about the topics that she's teaching. She is definitely accessible outside of class. She's a very smart woman and over all so so so cool.

Comment:

A really subpar lecturer. Lectures are all over the place and doesn't make powerpoints. She's not really accessible to meet with and doesn't give great feedback. That being said, its not terribly hard to do well. Cite the readings a lot in your papers and she'll give you an A. I wouldn't take her again though, I prefer professors who actually teach

Comment:

The course is called Modern Iran, and the way Prof Bauer teaches it is as if every student grew up in Iran. She gives no context to things. There were no units. She just spat out terms all throughout the lecture, some minute and some apparently were important. Shes a sweet person, but an awful teacher. I would never take a class with her again.

One of the worst professors I've ever encountered. Gives interesting readings, but posts them super late and still expects you to do it. NEVER gives clear directions, even when you press her to do so. There is no grading criteria for papers. Do yourself a favor. DO NOT TAKE HER. A bunch of my friends advised me not to, I didn't listen....

Comment:

Literally no homework except for studying for the midterm and final. Both tests are not hard to study for as long as you somewhat understand, connect and study a sheet of words(study guide) the night before the test. Class is very boring, but you can just pass the time on your computer doing other homework. The trick is to pretend to be cultured.

Bauer's teaching style is completely ineffective for me.*ppts are very wordy and do not pertain to what she is saying, so you can either pay attention to her or copy her notes, but you are required to know both.*huge inconvenience for her to help you and will take her time responding to questions (3+weeks). But, she always greets w/ a smile.

this woman is the single worst professor to ever step foot on trinity college's campus. passive-aggressive like it's her job and completely out in left field. ambiguous, unfair and arbitrary about grading. she seems to "connect" everything to her middle eastern studies and it never works, making her the least succinct prof to ever walk the planet.
