I was absolutely astounded by how difficult of a grader this professor was. After receiving a 63% on my first paper of the semester I sought assistance with two English major grad students to help me with my next paper. After perfecting the paper I still received only a 72%. The professors comments on the papers are very insensitive and cold.

Straight-A History Major getting a BA in her class. The textbook and video you buy are her projects, only can use her resources. Papers have 7 page directions, "how to write a paper" is 15 pages. Made up her own kind of citations, use Ariel font or you fail. Her way of the high way 100%. Very bias. Lost points for my choice of verbs -shows/portrays

Don't do it. Extremely insensitive. Makes you buy a book she wrote, and a DVD she acted in. Expects this class to be the class you put all your time into.

Tough class, and I love history. No discussion board but assigns a chapter and a quiz every week. Not the easiest. My least favorite were the papers. Only 2 pages but she acts like the subject is so broad, but it's not. What she wants is very, very specific. I got a D+, C-, and A on my 3 and scraped a B overall. If you try hard, you can do it.

You use her textbook. She words all the questions for the quizzes every Friday very weirdly. The paper questions are ALWAYS very broad and open ended, but she expects you to be as specific as possible. Will grade low for silly reasons.

Took 3160. Insanely specific requirements for assigned papers. If I had the option, I would've never taken this class, despite my personal interest in history. She makes you buy the book that she wrote, and requires you read ALL of it, as well as listen to lectures online that "supplement" the material. Barf. Stay away if you still have the chance.

The professor is indeed passionate about history, but does not cater to students. Questions are answered poorly. The papers are long and take time to do. I did far better in an English course with harder papers. The quizzes are taken from the vocabulary, 20 detailed questions about 3pts each. So missing a few dropped the quiz grade.

I took History of Women 3160 online. 10 quizzes. 3 papers which are that biggest part of your grade. 2 lectures per chapter and terms to know will help you with the quizzes. The papers are hard and require a lot of thought and understanding images. You need to be motivated to do well in this course. I was motivated and had a helpful TA and got an A

If you miss any assignments, you fail. She assigns the book she authored as the course book and wants to make sure you read every last bit of it. Her quizzes ask very specific and detailed questions that only someone who thoroughly read and memorized her boring book would know.

This is hands down the worst professor I've ever had. She is stuck up, opinionated, and the least helpful professor I've ever had. She made me feel stupid and dumb in her response to my email asking about a thesis statement. News to you, Janet, the whole world doesn't aspire to be a women's rights activist when they're older. She should be fired

She grades harshly even when you spend hours taking detailed notes on the reading of the ENTIRE book it is impossible to get a decent grade. When you ask a question she replies in a way making you feel stupid. Grades the papers based on how SHE would have written it (she wrote the book) not on what you learned automatically giving a C or worse.

I read other comments on this site and thought that maybe the students were lazy, and didn't want to put in the work, but I was very incorrect. You MUST read the entire book as 1/2 of your grade is quizzes from it. More importantly, the 3 papers = absurd. She makes them so difficult, her instructions are 3 pages long, and she grades harshly. BAD!!!

Do no take a class with this professor. She thinks very highly of herself and doesn't do much in the way of teaching actual facts. Her big emphasis is on the "interpretation" of history and gave a whole lesson on HOW history is carried along. She had a whole long list of terms to know for quizzes that were only 20 questions.

You can tell that she's incredibly knowledgeable in her field, but her condescending attitude is very annoying. Her online class consists of reading the book, reading/listening to her online lectures, taking quizzes on each chapter, and three papers. If you miss one assignment, you fail the entire class. Stay on top of your work!

She knows her stuff, and she will help you become a better historian. However, she thinks very highly of herself, her jokes, and her views, and comes off as snotty. She uses every opportunity to remind her students of gender inequality. Not that I disagree, but it gets old. But if you can get past the attitude, she really is a good teacher.

She is totally useless. Unless you agree with her you will fail the course. I had a friend in class who attempted to raise a valid point. The professor humilated him. It was more of an emberresment for her than my friend. DO NOT TAKE HER!

This professor is a liberal, elite propagandist who emphasizes the "shut up and obey" mentality. I had her for Civil War History. If you didn't agree with her Yankee point of view and wished to argue according to historical fact and axiomatic truth, then she labeled you as a neo-confederate-and tried to torpedo your grade. David Horowitz is correct

it seems she's a good in class prof, but I took her online. Yeah my fault I didn't keep up with the readings, but my biggest issue was with the papers. I honestly would try this class again as an audit, it was pretty interesting. I kept the books because they are the history of women which is GLORIOUS! But her online class isn't all that great:(
