Very poor teacher. Lectures difficult to follow and does not understand questions asked of her in class. Much better one-on-one - must go to office hours if you want to get anything from her class. As postbac program administrator, runs the program like her personal fief. Not open to change.

Janet is a very kind and caring women. She is a joy to talk to. That being said, her class was not my favorite. If I hadn't taken chem in high school, I have no idea how I would have passed. Her expectations are rarely clear, especially with assignment due dates. Make sure you open and read EVERY document she puts on "the Moodle"!

I don't remember there being a question she didn't have an answer for, even if it wasn't completely related to the material. She is easily one of the best teachers I have had, but she is also quite the personality. Talk to her outside of class and you will be amazed by her stories and wisdom.

Janet teaching style is based more so on related research publications vs the standard textbooks. She teaches the ability to ask the right questions and provides the tools to answer those questions. This method of learning, though difficult, is worth the journey. Her lab assignments are also very hands on and relavant to real world questions.

Janet Foley was one of my favorite professors of all time. Before her class, I had no interest in chemistry. Afterwards, however, I became fascinated with the interactions of molecules! The subject matter is difficult, and she does not let any misunderstanding go unaddressed and because of this, she is an excellent teacher.
