May not be the most pleasant woman you ever deal with, but easiest class I've taken at Loyola. Copy down the stuff she says and spit it back to her and she'll love it. Can easily get a 95+ average on her exams.

Very picky, if you dont write down whatever she went over in class she will give you a C. you must be very clear and redundant in answering her essay questions. She is a tough grader. she expects her students to be very engaged in her subject and know details and significance. going to lecture to get her notes will help alot in answering her essays

Is she hard? Yes. BUT, she knows her stuff. I've taken 3 classes with her and she's never glanced at a note ONCE. She's tough because she knows everything about european history, especially Irish history. She's a tough grader but if you're smart you will enjoy the class.

My recommendation is stay away. The testing is an application of historical facts and unless you perfectly agree with her interpretation your grade will suffer. All tests are single essay prompts. She makes this much more rigorous than a 100level CORE class need be.

I am currently taking her class and she is horrible. On the essay test if you do not write word for word what she wants you get a C. She picks on people in class. This one kid in class sneezed and she literally stopped class and went on a tirade about if you are sick you shouldnt be in class. Dont take her trust me you will regret it.

She doesn't help her students and is a tough grader. Our exams were 1 question essays that were 25% of your grade each. And don't be fooled by extra credit assignments, if you don't do them they count against you. Overall, it was hard to figure out what she wanted and how to study for exams. For an entry level history class, it wasn't worth it.

OK she is hard. And rude to her students. She degrades them during class, as well as telling them other teachers at the university teach false information. The class had the ability to be interesting, but she lectures the same thing over and over again. I would NOT suggest anyone take her. and I did really well in the class.

If you're looking for an easy class to coast with an A, then this isn't the class for you. If you don't like writing and reading required texts, this isn't the class for you. You will learn so much from this class and have a new respect for democracy. Though she's nit-picky you'll come out the class a better writer. Come to class and you'll get a A

She takes attendance. Must go to lectures every day to do good on tests. Wants very specific details on tests so study hard! If your last name starts with an M or on your in luck cuz the TA will grade ur tests. Full of knowledge but sit in the front to hear. She wants HER answers on tests so be careful. This teacher is like having your mother lecture you about life and how it relates to history. She does not allow you to think for yourself. She only likes responses that agree with her point of view. She forces her writing style, knowledge, and point of view of life down your throat. TAKE HER ONLY IF YOU LIKE AUTHORITIVE BOSSY MOMS.

I think she's a professor you either love or hate. I loved her. I had her for Irish Diaspora in America, and by far the most interesting class I have ever taken. She really knows her stuff, and is a great lecturer to boot. Note of warning: if you plan on taking her course, hone your writing skills, because she is very picky about good papers.
