Really insightful human being. Loved being in class with him. Started the class with a meditation exercise I didn't care for at all, but he each week I came to respect him more and more for his thoughtfulness and probing insights into writing and teaching. I'd take another class with him in a heartbeat.

Professor Rappaport engages everyone in class in a way that makes the students appreciate each other as colleagues and friends. He is respectful of his students and knowledgeable about his subject matter. He is everything you could ask for in a professor. I have taken classes from him before and would happily take classes from him in the future.

He gives good advice, but I disagree with the grade I received. I suggest he consider grading with more points (more points factored in per assignment) or that he use the plus/minus system instead of the block method. I liked him a lot for screenwriting: His jokes, stories, movie clips. But I feel my great script wasn't fully valued in this class.

It is very easy to pass this class. My biggest issue is that for having a class about screenwriting, he didn't teach us anything about the format. You are on your own on that. Which isn't too bad, it's easy enough to teach yourself how to write the 30 page script, but still. Other than that, he is a fine professor. I would recommend taking him.

By far the best professor I've had while at CSUN. He cares about his students, and is so helpful if you seek it. He isn't full of himself, and treats students with respect. I wish I could have him more often as my professor.

He is the Phil Jackson of screenwriting professors. This instructor made a seemingly boring subject (writing for industrials) fun, engaging, and creatively stimulating. He keeps his lectures clear, concise, and once in a while drops in an unexpected dry wit that completely floors you. He appreciates creativity, and shares his industry experience.

Good ole' Rapp. Rappaport's class was great. He has been writing for a while and knows his stuff. Very approachable and intelligent person. Is in his office often and always willing to help. He is funny all the class has to do is bring it out.

Fun and easy class (if you are interested in the subject). I felt that he could have been more helpful to the less experienced students in class. The class is sort of a survey style class. You learn a little bit about several different reading mediums, and don't go into much depth. I would highly recommend him though.

Prof. Rappaport was definitely one of my favorite professors @ CSUN. He is very clear on what he expects of you. He will INDEED call on you to speak, and definitely expect to stand in front of the class to read scripts, treatments, and the like. Definitely take him!!!

He expects the best out of his students and does not judge them on their short comings as writers. If you at least try to expand your writing horizons, then this class is no problem. If anything, he does whatever he can to encourage his students to become better writers.
