Comment:
This class is not self-aware in the least. It enacts seemingly unexamined pedagogical practices that are uncritical of the impact of its own knowledge production. Throwing around the word "logic" to value western science above all other ways of knowing & being without examining "whose logic?" is very dangerous & consistently happens in this class.

Professor Atlas is one of the greatest assets of Pomona College. His old-school british-style attitude may take some getting used to, but he is easily one of the best professors I have ever had.

Atlas is absolutely fabulous. He is definitely intimidating at first, but then ends up being amazing. I love that he's my adviser.

While my first impression was dry/boring, I ended up liking so much that I switched my major and selected him as my advisor. After graduation, faced with the hard facts about the utility of the philosophy degree, he provided invaluable mentoring support, which helped me achieve long-term success. Like him or not in the classroom, he's a good man.

A professor of the classic style-- not unlike an Oxford don-- his teaching talents are best demonstrated in the one-on-one tutorial. If you wish to learn the philosphers' craft his is the ideal class.

Knows his stuff, seems very intelligent. Unfortunately, also very intimidating and not very willing to help out if you're lost, or even let you know whether you're lost in B-C realm or floundering all the way down around D-F.
