Overall I enjoyed how he ran the course. As long as you read the cases and take good notes during his lectures, you should be fine. Best tip is to review your notes a day after the Lecture, especially understanding the problems and related code. He gives a big curve, and exam are open book. (still need to study)

Nice guy, very knowledgeable but bad at teaching! (Like most attorneys who teach after hours). 20 open ended and 70 multiple choice on 2.5 hours midterm and cumulative final with tax calculations ! Open book doesn't help-no time. Loves depreciation - study it ! Other professor's lectures and Emanuel Outline helped me. Curves a lot.

Had him for Income Tax. Two exams, first one is 45% of your grade and second one is 55% of your grade. There are a lot of code sections to go over, so make sure you take good notes. The exams are open book, but you still have to study hard. He calls on students randomly so you can't daydream in this course. He's good, but be prepared to work hard.

This is a very difficult area of tax. Professor is very knowledgeable and definitely tough but in a very good way as you will walk away from class really feeling like you learned something and that is what is most important. The professor gives great lectures and also tapes them so you can replay at your leisure anything you missed.

Prof. Soled is an engaging, occasionally condescending, professor who successfully shares and imparts basic tax concepts that I could understand and apply in my current job. He has a passion for Tax and I appreciate it. I found the class interesting

Professor was great. The readings can be a little dry if you don't have a passion for tax. Professor explained things very clearly. If you miss a class just make sure to do the reading and grab notes from a classmate. In the end it was a very informative class. Especially like how he tied in relevant news to the class-(2017 changes in tax code)

Prior to taking this class, I had little interest in pursuing a career in Tax. Professor Soled changed all of that for me by generating interest in the material. His forced class participation was a major positive as it kept students engaged. You will learn a tremendous amount in this course, and may change your opinion about Tax as a profession.

He says he answes email, but he does not unless he likes you even if in the subject line you state Taxclass question. He tries so hard to keep your attention but without visuals; handouts, slides his class could be very dry.

Rude professor, does not have basic respect for students. Expects you to read giant chunks of the text and code prior to class and have a full understanding of it. If that was actually possible why would we need to come to class. Skip this prof is you can his classes are unpleasant

Super long and tedious tests. Talks really fast and does not like to repeat himself. Expects you to memorize a confusing textbook . Doesn't provide guidance. Really long readings, makes everything convenient for himself not the students. Loves talking about himself. He's also very condescending.

Does not provide you with an outline of the class or what you're suppose to learn. Assigns you to read 70+ pages for each class. Tests are ridiculously long and hard. Doesn't look you in the eye. Pretends to be there for you but he's Not helpful at all. Worst professor I ever had.

He is an arrogant and phony. He "teaches" every minute of the class because he wants to "give you your moneys worth". However, all he does is talk about himself and irrelevant information that is not on the test. When it comes down tot he test, he says he expects you to know everything we've cover and that is as detailed as he gets. Awful human.

Soled has a very condescending attitude, acting as if you should already know the answer to your question. The readings are very difficult to comprehend, as they are in legalese. His style of teaching confuses students since he does not in a timely fashion let the students know when they are correct. Picks on certain students during entire semester

While this sadist, um I mean professor, is very smart, he has no intention of being helpful so don't even ask. He will make you feel stupid for asking any question or saying pretty much anything. He will pick on you and make you feel uncomfortable pretty much every class. He seems to enjoy it. Oh and he refuses to hold office hours. Have fun!
