If you don't like to participate, are a nervous wreck about presenting in front of a class, and easily get offended by what others say, do not take him. However, if you actually have an interest in learning Capital Markets and are willing to put up with an old school and arrogant professor with actual industry experience to do so, I would recommend

He does not care about students at all. He forces you to participate and is very very rude to students about anything you say. He has an abundance of real world experience (which he brags about non-stop). It's not a crazy hard class if you can put up with his attitude.

This class was cake. Personally, I appreciated his rants but many students don't. Just listen to what he has to say and form your own opinions. If you can't take his brazen personality then you'll never make it in finance. Midterm, final, attendance, and participation makeup your grade. Tests are open book and note.

Incredibly knowledgeable instructor with a wealth of experience in both an academic and a professional business context. Can come across as hostile/intimidating for students who arent comfortable and/or prepared to provide informed and supported commentary in class. Participation, note taking, and attendance are the keys to earning an A.

Had him for Capital Markets. He isn't afraid to express his point of view but he does listen to yours if you disagree. He will call you out if you make a dumb remark during class, so think first. I learned more in his class than any other class at Pitt. His lectures are easy to pay attention to and actually quite entertaining.

If you can put up with his humble brags & have the emotional strength of an actual college student, I'd definitely recommend him. He won't hold your hand or be afraid to call you out on your BS, but he's very knowledgable and a great professor. Don't be an idiot and you'll do well and enjoy yourself in his class.

if you leave this course without knowing he's made a lot of money, attended harvard business school, and worked on wall street, then you haven't learned the only things he cares about. if you're interested in listening to an overly arrogant guy (albeit knows his stuff) twice a week for 2.5 hours, then be my guest. he's easy, but painfully arrogant

Jay has earned quite a reputation among finance majors at Pitt. In my opinion, a must have professor. He has tons of experience. He isn't inherently mean but is actually quite funny if you are able to laugh at yourself. The key to his class: read the cases, participate in class, and accept that he'll tell you when you're wrong. You'll learn a lot.

Sukits is the realest professor on campus. Must participate to pass this class, and if you're not paying attention or make unintelligent comments (I mean VERY unintelligent) he will let you know. Has a ton of industry experience and shares it. Not the most available, but a great resource to use if you do well in his class. He will help!

Genuinely mean person. Cares only about himself and his opinions. Will let you know about what he was doing 50 years ago, but won't bother to learn your name. Very arrogant because he has won awards from the university, but doesn't realize that the students don't get input on those. I wish he would've taught me about finance.

Last semester I loved Sukits but this semester he just disappointed me. He was extremely rude to the point where it was astounding. Take him for Corporate Finance but I would say no to Advanced Corporate. 25% of your grade is participation which he wants each student to participated 50 times which is just unrealistic.

Jay Sukits is one of the best teachers that I have had at Pitt. He can be quite on edge sometimes, but other than that I learned a lot in class. He calls you out if you aren't paying attention and he might belittle you so beware. Open notes tests are a breeze if you write exactly what he puts on the board. Taking him again next semester!!

The easiest class I have had at Pitt. Tests were open book, open notes. One project, 3 homework assignments, a midterm and a final determine your grade. Go to class, he gives extra credit just for going. Tons of other EC opportunities. I did not even study for the final and ended up with an A+. Make your schedule so you can take him for corporate.

Adv. Corp. Finance. Sukits is a really good professor. He gets a bad rap, but he definitely wants you to learn. Expect to participate, group projects, and GO TO CLASS!! The class is challenging and he talks a lot about his past experiences, so be prepared to sit back and listen. I definitely recommend him to anyone at Pitt. Wonderful teacher!

Looove Sukits. He has a really dry sense of humor that takes some getting accustomed to. He applies real world events to concepts taught in class. He has worked on Wall Street and provides great insights. He wants you to do well in the course and leave far more knowledgable then when you first walked into class. He expects a lot...great prof!

I loved this class. Suikits is arrogant and knows what he is talking about. Be prepared to learn without extra help from him, be prepared to participate a lot, and be prepared to be told when you answers are wrong. You either love him or hate him, but generally people still like his classes. I'm taking him again next semester.

Prof Sukits gets a bad wrap from students. Although this was a tough class, he did his best to make sense/clarify any topic. Any body that says he's not fair, is lying. I would recommend taking him for any Finance class, because his real life work experience gives the students a perspective other than whats in the text book.

I have had Professor Sukits for three classes and he has been unapproachable in all of them. I am really glad he no longer teaches intro to finance because he hated it and was mean to the students. Now that I have taken his upper level classes I think he is nicer. His questions always have obvious answers and you must participate in class!
