his quizes usually cover things he will teach in the future or never teach, so we have to learn the textbook by ourselves. Only 8 out of 140 students got A, no A+ was given. overall not so hard if read the textbook, lectures are useless.

Seriously, not enough bad things to say about him. It's worth noting that this vegetable of a prof rated himself below (it's the only positive review, and has 15+ downvotes). Absolutely terrible, tests do not reflect HW, even the HW does not reflect what he teaches in lecture OR whats in the book. Lecture is USELESS. You WILL read the entire book.

Probably the worst professor I've ever had at UCSD. He's disrespectful, unfair, expects way too much out of his students, gives quizzes on material we haven't even gone over yet (aka almost a week before homework is due). His lectures are useless but rewards those that choose to attend them (extra credit points). 2nd midterm was impossible. AVOID.

Insults and demoralizes students. Does not teach. You cannot approach him without being criticized. Heck, a student can teach better than him. Absolutely the worst. Good luck reading the entire book cover to cover if you want to pass the class.

He is a doting grandfather in person and tries his best to teach. He definitely takes his teaching duties seriously, tho makes mistakes. However, he is terse in his emails and expects students to research answrs beforehand which gives impression of snark. Know that he truly does have a heart of gold, but is misunderstood.

Get ready to learn everything by yourself. Book is your best friend. He is not a very good teacher. His TA teaches/knows the class better than he does. Know all your material and practice a lot at your own. READ YOUR BOOK!! I do not recommend him but if you have no choice like me then o well, get ready for 10-15 hours of time on homework. Good Luck

Quite possibly the worst teacher I have ever had. Aware of this teachers previous reviews, I took him anyways thinking I could just teach myself out of the book. He is older than dirt and struggles with Matlab during his lectures. His midterm was thrown together and did not reflect any of the homework. DO NOT TAKE HIM YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Horrible professor. Lectures were dull and stuffy, and he constantly sends out multiple emails after class correcting a bunch of mistakes he made. Doesn't demonstrate good understanding of MatLab- the tutor was better than him! Ended up dropping because Goddard was useless. I guess he tries but it's time for him to retire. Don't take his class!

After the lecture, he emails you to say what did he do wrong during the class asking you to fix it in your notes. Then, he emails you again saying he was right the first time. This is the guy that makes confusion for his students. I'd read these comments before taking this class, but had to take it. Sadly, dropped it and got a W.

This professor is terrible. He tries hard, seems like two sided. He'll be nice to you and encourages you. He'll try to help, but on most accounts fails to do so. Lectures are terrible, and assignments are REALLY not clear. Midterm was easy, final was SOOO HARD! Overall I recommend this class, but not this professor. I didn't listen to others, :(.
