Comment:

Jean Donovan is an outstanding professor and a terrific individual. I would say she is strong Progressive Catholic -- it is who she is and what she teaches. She has a tremendous background -- from Chaplain to seminary instructor, much of which she incorporates into her teaching. But... you WILL write in her classes!

Comment:

Very kind and helpful woman. Brilliant but extremely liberal; she's always wrapped up in gender neutral words/explainations. Service learning is awful too, but she really makes the best of it. Do what little work is expected of you and come to class and you will get along fine. Just watch out for her chalky purple coat!!!

Honestly. . .i detested this class. I learned absolutely nothing and it was a waste of my time. She could be a good teacher but by the way she taught this class i would have never known!

donovan is nothing special. her teaching methods kind of sucked and i didn't learn too much from the class. one paper that was a bit excessive for a class that was required for lib arts for almost everyone. disappointed to get a B-, my lowest grade of the semester in a class i thought would have been the easiest.

awful awful class. focuses just on christianity, mainly catholicism. the readings were redundant. also, we didn't go over a lot of what we read and we weren't tested on it. i have come out of this class not learning much of anything.

Awesome...tried to keep class interesting. Very understanding as far as assignments - and just in general. She understands that mostly everyone in the class is only taking it because they have to and teaches accordingly. Also, she is unintentionally funny. Very nice woman.

She's a liberal so you can BS a lot of the work. Not a great teacher and can get really boring. The grading scale is strange and her grading itself is a fairly subjective. The books used for the class are not too much to shout about.

Donovan is an easy teacher with an arbitrary grading scale. The scale is also very steep (95 - 100 = A). She doesn't often respond to emails, but will let you turn in projects late. Can be frustrating and boring, but overall it's pretty easy.

Makes the class seem very difficult the first day, but walks you through step by step, and is very clear. Good theology teacher. Dr. Donovan makes a potentially terrible class tolerable. Also a kooky sense of humor, which makes the class more enjoyable. Overall, a good teacher.
