Made an interesting subject absolutely DULL. terrible teacher, old, r-cist s-xist and everything offensive. boring as a doornail and extremely hard tests. if you have to take this class study hard and work hard on the paper because there are few grades. if you don't have to take it don't...

She takes her class very seriously. This class had nothing to do with my major and I only took it to help fill my core. I would not recommend taking this class if you don't have to. She singles out minorities during class. You will leave thins class with a bleak outlook on life. Oh! There is a 10-page research paper involved and LOTS of reading.

I was interested in taking this class and at the beginning really enjoyed it. However, she doesn't lecture on what she tests. The tests come from the book and any movies you watch. The tests are hard because they cover around eight chapters and she asks about the details. There are three tests and a paper. I would recommend doing the paper early!

I was actually excited about taking marriage and family until I got to this class. She doesnt teach to the tests at all (everything is from the book so you have to read it cover to cover). Very opinionated and knows people think its a blow off so purposely makes it impossible. Studied more than I ever have and barely made a B

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! She is so batty that it is very hard to follow her. Then she does not even test you on the information from class. It is all from the book. Know every inch of the book and you can do well in this class otherwise good luck.

She is hard! I thought this class (Marriage and Family) was going to be a breeze and she was very critical and opinionated. What she teaches in class is nothing like the tests! Use the text book's pre/post tests. It's the only way I survived!

This woman is the worst professor I have ever had. She has the most annoying habits and she makes the class unbearable with how incredibly awful she is. The book is what the tests are over but she talks about other topics outside of the book and then tests you on the book. Do not take her!

She is a major space cadet and says "ideer" instead of "idea." She can be understanding but will cut you down publicly in front of your classmates. She made me feel so small. I did not enjoy her tangents and will never take another class from her. Grades hard. Shows favortism. READ THE TEXT THOROUGHLY!!

This class was disappointing because it really should be interesting but she manages to make it so dull! There is a long paper, but if you do it early she doesn't grade as hard, but you have to study a lot for the tests! Most of the info comes out of the book. Not a recommended class at all!

Not too hard, takes effort and studying. Class is BORING. She is annoying. She has this constant nervous laugh and it's really awkward. Tests take studying, paper is LONG. If you want to take a blow off course, think again, takes effort and patience

This class was much harder than expected and she definitely plays favorites. There is a 10 page research paper that has very very strict guidelines and the test are way too hard for the class. She has pretty bad teaching skills too....the stuff taught in the class is barely on the tests and going to class is pretty much a waste of time.

Common sense class. Tests are a little tricky but if you use the study guide and read what she points out it isn't too bad. The paper was the biggest challenge so START EARLY because she will review it before you have to submit it. Take advantage of that... you can get an A.

Great class, interesting topics. Giles-Sims is obviously well informed and teaches well. Who cares if she's liberal? She's good. Not an easy A though... the 8 page paper will hurt you if you don't work hard on it. 3 tests are easy if you study well and long.

She is great,tests can be hard at times. She made an example of her one black student constantly asking me questions and being kind of envasive. She has good intentions but can be slighty bothersome. Her papers are not hard, just use jstor or academic primier to seach for articles instead.

The class is not an easy class, so don't take it as an elective. She is very liberal and tries to make you agree with her beliefs. If you don't try to agree with her then you'll do bad because she plays favorites. She does not like boys and is very inconsiderate. I hated this class at the end.

A liberal jewel in TCU's conservative-student crown. In a respectful way, Giles-Sims reminds TCU students that non-white, non-Christians, and non-heterosexuals actually do exist in America and that it's ok (despite parents' beliefs) to not vote for Bush

she has to like you to give an A. Also, doesn't seem to be very fond of the male gender and some of her discussions take a liberal/socialist slant. Just go to class, take notes, and do the review and the tests aren't too bad. Paper took a lot of work.
