Professor Rodrigue is an super knowledgeable man who provides a lot of information in the class. He presents the info via powerpoint and encourages participation. His grading policy is clear and the assignments were all questions directly from the powerpoint that were always online and available to us. But it's not certain that you'll get an A

Comment:

Took GS1 and GEOG1 with him. Both taught in the same format. Powerpoints by topics and a take-home assignment at the end of every few topics. Put effort into them and show up to class and in the end you will get an A. Worked for me both times. He grades differently: my average for my assignments was about a 75 but I got an A in the class.

Dr Rodrigue is awesome!! I took GS 001 with him, and now I am considering minoring in Global Studies. After each section you do an assignment that consists of questions that are in the PowerPoints, and the final grade is based on all of them. Never had a problem with them. He used the Canadian grading system which is a benefit. Would take again!

I've had him for two courses and i absolutely adore him. He's freaking hilarious and does know a lot about his subject. his lectures can be a bit dull, but he makes little jokes every now and then to wake you up. THERE ARE NO TESTS. he has 6 assignments that must be completed on time, but other than that he is great! also, textbooks are his, & free

Prof. Rodrigue's mind is all over the place he is so smart, his heart is with his students. He is there for you. I loved his class. The time went so quick. He even bought us, THE ENTIRE CLASS, dinner once. Hey he ain't cheap. Very generious with his time and cash. Def. Recommended

He is an alright teacher but he is a very hard grader and doesn't tell the class what he wants for his assignments so even if you have the write answer he will most likely take points off and does not explain why. No extra credit chances either. I would avoid.

iGlobalization was one of the best classes I've ever taken at Hofstra. Attendance is not required, exams are take home, and Rodrigue is a very funny and nice professor. Definitely recommend this class.

iGlobalization was one of the best courses I've ever taken at Hofstra. It is very practical and you will learn all sorts of things that matter in the real world economy. Prof. Rodriigue makes the class extremely interesting and even entertaining. I highly recommend this class!

Dr. Rodrigue is the best! He is extremely helpful and detailed in presenting the course material, and always keeps it interesting with a bit of humor. You'll do well in this class if you follow the instructions and ask questions. The GIS program seems tricky at first, but you'll get the hang of it after the first few classes and practice lab!

Good sense of humor, but still painfully boring when he lectures. He likes to do things his way, so when I had some problems with absences after being sick for a while he didn't want to handle it and just told me to withdraw. Not a terrible guy, just set in his own ways and kind of unwilling to waver.

Jean Paul really knows his stuff. He is funny and makes lecture somewhat interesting. Write MORE than a half a page on his take home tests even if the question asks something that can be adequately answered in 3 sentences. he will arbitrarily take off points if your papers are short, but if u write a decent amount you will be ok. NO hw either :-)

Dr. Rodrigue turned Global Studies into his own platform to criticize such topics as diplomacy, environmental protection efforts, and other "liberal wastes of time". He uses only his own slide shows to teach, so students have no connection to their notes. No useful assignments. DO NOT take his class if you plan to LEARN anything useful.

Well, he is very nice and funny and the lecture is not the most boring I've ever taken, he tries to make it interesting. BUT he is a VERY hard grader on papers and take home tests. You may not even know why you got your grade. I strongly suggest buying the book for your papers even though he says not to.

Most boring class i've taken since being at hofstra. He just lectures the whole class about his powerpoints and it feels like it lasts forever. He grades papers but doesnt mark them up at all, so who knows if he actually reads them.

Definitely an asset to Hofstra!!! He taught us how to make maps on this really cool computer program. We got to make our own class schedule, what more could a student ask for???

professor rodrigue is right, the only people who go on this site are people who got terrible grades or people who really liked the teacher. to everyone giving bad comments, i took this class, did exactly what i had to do, and got an A. ill never understand students who do not go to class, dont do work, get bad grades and blame it on professors!

He represents the Anti-American movement that is currently plagueing most colleges in the US. He is smart, knows his stuff, but his class his super-hard just so he can get his kicks. He blames the USA for all of South America's problems. Think Ward Churchill meets Hugo Chavez.
