In regards to the previous evaluation, let me say that JP is open-minded and encourages intellectual autonomy. Also, there was no exam with take-home essays. Finally, learn to write French.

C’est un prof qui possède d’une idée fixe de son « génie ». Vous n’avez aucun droit d’avoir son propre avis. S’il dit blanc est noir il faut que vous soyez d’accord. Ce n’est pas une bonne idée d’écrire trois essais comme un examen à la maison en 24h.

He can't stand it when students might know more/actually be smarter than him. He just drops their grades. Arrogant, insecure and annoying, his passion for literature just isn't enough to make classes worthwhile.

J.P. Marcoux is an inconsistent teacher. He dumbs down his course, teaching only the basics on some subjects and going in depth on others. His speciality is African American studies and he goes in depth in this subject area only. He also spends a lot of time being self-deprecating in order to draw attention to himself. Exams difficult.

J-P is a good teacher overall. That being said, his jokes add nothing to the class, he sometimes borders on arrogant and hates criticism. He is always available to students and is helpful one-on-one, providing keen insight into the material. However, his brilliance simply doesn't transfer to his class and that is frustrating.

He's though on exams, but he actually takes the time to explain why (which is a big plus). He makes himself very available (no joke there lol) and doesn't shun any questions or concerns. Very helpful, articulate, knowledgeable and, he puts on quite a show in class!
