Took him for Philosophy of Religion and thought he was great. really interesting lecture material. He does talk a lot about personal life but I did not mind. He has a lot of life experience that he finds ways to tie into the material (at least for this class). Straightforward grading, a couple of take home tests, and a final paper.

Class was hard and lectures could sometimes be confusing. He does record them all so you can listen again later. He does like to talk a lot about his personal life. This class did push me to work hard for that A!

He definitely knows his material. However, he goes off topic very easily and spent a few classes talking about his life story. He was pretty good at explaining material anyways. The tests are mostly on what he lectures, so if you show up to every class, pay attention and take good notes, you won't have too hard of a time.

Jeff likes to spend class time reminiscing the days he was young and on drugs. I know so much about his life story and get so little out of his lecture. I would be better off skipping class and reading but attendance and participation is 20% of your grade.

Jeff Broome is not the most helpful person, on the first day I thought that it would be a relaxing course, which it was. The problem was that he was superior to any other opinions or thoughts, and prior to registering I though philosophy was an open subject. He inspired me to change my major, and I still struggle with professors just like him.

Dr. Broome is the most rude and unprofessional teacher I have encountered so far at ACC. The only thing I enjoyed about this class is that there wasn't any tests. If you don't interpret a concept exactly how he wants it he will grade you down for it and give you some kind of feedback that makes you feel like you're a complete idiot.

Professor Broome is probably the most unhelpful, rude teacher I've had throughout college. He expects you to understand every concept covered in class up to his standard, meaning, his opinion is always the right answer. If the assignments you turn in drift away from his OPINIONS, you will be downgraded and he will most likely scoff at you.

DONT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE! He has very high expectations without clearly explaining what he wants. He also spends several weeks addressing a paper he wrote and then belittles you when you don't understand the point he was trying to make. Super tough grader- almost impossible to receive anything higher than a B on anything.

Takes attendance. Clear grading criteria - expectations for each paper discussed in DETAIL before it's due. If you miss the lecture when he does that, AND you don't do your reading, your grades won't be that great. The papers are average 10 pages (answering long questions). Class discussions are interesting and he includes current examples.

I took his online class and there was a ton of work. Don't sign up for his class if you aren't prepared for 5-6 hours worth of homework alone. He also grades extremely hard. I could spend hours on a paper and still barely scrape a C.

I am currently in Jeff's online intro Philosophy class and within the first day I wanted to drop it. I emailed him for clarification about the assignment and he made me feel completely stupid for asking, then for my first week's grade I got a 35% because I was too nervous to ask for more specific clarification. I would not recommend this teacher.

Mr. Broome had taught a class that normally is very hard and was able to explain the principles of logic very well. However, throughout the semester he gets lazy on teaching the concepts in the later chapters. And has too high of expectations of understanding the content, especially when this subject is very new to most people. Overall great class!

Jeff is very knowledgeable in philosophy. His lecture gets off topic a lot and he tells a lot of stories, which is fine. He explains the concepts clearly and is really respectful of student views. If you pay attention to lecture and do some reading you will do fine. Just don't write like you're in 5th grade and you will pass.

This guy is probably one of the coolest teachers at ACC. If you aren't about reading the material and you float by in classes, do not take this class, laziness will get you an F. Otherwise if you put in the effort respond to the discussions, create good concise papers, you'll do great! He's great at providing feedback.

Professor Broome is HORRIBLE. I am taking an online philosophy class and he is extremely unhelpful, unclear, and does not respond respectfully or helpfully to emails asking for help or clarity. His grading is extremely harsh, he docks for every little thing, and you may very well get a C for a paper you spent hours on.

Awesome and very cool teacher , his personality is so much better Mark Gowan, I don't understand why there are so many negative feedbacks about him , but he is absolutely my favorite philosophic teacher here. I would highly recommend him to everyone.

I had to learn everything using the book alone. His teaching methods are terrible and leave you with questions but he prides himself in making students feel stupid and openly admits to it. If you have any kind of social anxiety, just don't.

He puts more effort and more work into improving his student̢۪s abilities than any teacher that I have had before. He has high standards, and I have received some great feedback. In the lectures he ties in his is own interests and real world experiences into his teachings of philosophy. He is super smart, and really cool. I recommend him highly.

Much of the class he talked about himself. I know all about his brother, his guitar playing, a book he wrote about native americans, the watch his grandpa wore, I could go on... However if I tried commenting on philosophy, (Which was on topic), I was shut down, and told there was little time to talk. I learned i his class, but he was tiring.
