Dr. Brown is a really nice guy-his class is a pleasure to be in. He gives a lot of quizzes, however. He calls them group work, but don't be fooled-they are definitely quizzes. We had about two a week for a while: one on Wednesday, one on Friday. The final exam was literally just the hardest questions from the hardest units. Tests are pretty easy.

Dr. Brown is such a kind person. He is very fair and covers exactly what will be on test. My opinion is that he is the best Math professor at UNCW. He definitely cares about his students. We had many announced quizes and group work for grades. Do your homework! 3 tests and final counts as two more test grades. Wish he taught all my Math!

I basically never showed up to class and had pretty much failing test scores for the first two test but i have already have taken calc so I aced my last test and aced the final and ended up with an A. If you go to class and do your homework you will be fine. You need to know the material though. He is great teacher and nice guy.

Dr. Brown is great. I don't know why everyone says he goes fast, I think he goes pretty slow. He does lots of example problems, and the types of problems he does in class tend to be the same style as what he puts on the test. His tests are really simple, as long as you do the homework every night and GO TO CLASS you'll easily get an A.

This class is fairly difficult, being such a high math. He is not too clear on some of the topics, but he is very thorough in some of his explanations of the topics. Expect homework every class, he does not collect it, but I recommend doing it.

Easy class. Read the book. It's short and a perfect condensed version of the course. We finished the book the first half of the semester and then worked on application. The most difficult part of this course is that each test is only 5 or 6 questions. You can get partial credit but if you forget how to do something.. well, goodbye A.

Dr. Brown is very nice. He is incredibly smart and loves math. However, I struggled in this class because he went way to fast for me and did not show all the steps when working out a problem. Homework is mandatory. He gives group work and quizzes randomly-so go to class. 3 lowest homeworkquiz grades are dropped. Final can replace lowest exam.

Dr. Brown is a sweet, older man. His lectures are very easy to follow. He will drop your 3 lowest quizhomework grades at the end of the class. Attendance and participation are necessary to get a good grade, but you do not need a textbook. If you do the homework problems and online practice tests then it is easy to make an A on the exams.

I myself am bad at math, and to Dr. Brown's credit, he tries to make the lectures interesting and helpful. But, I myself could not get into it. Quizzes and group work, along with homework, essentially do not matter in this course; It's 5% for those. You need to do well on tests. Those are the huge chunks of your grade. I'm lucky I got what I did.

Dr. Brown is such a cute little old man. I loved his class, but at times I did get a little bored. He drops your three lowest quizhomework grades and all homework is online. He can be a little confusing at points, but the material isn't hard. He doesn't have an attendance policy, but he has questions for participation points.

He's really an up and down teacher depending if you understand the material. Overall not a good professor and I wouldn't recommend it. Hes not very good at explaining things and often messes up with his own equations on the board until someone corrects him.

Wonderful man, and a true genuine person. His class is straightforward. Tests aren't complicated, its exactly what is asked from homework and class examples. Attendance isn't mandatory but Dr. Brown gives frequent group work assignments in class so you need to attend.

Brown flies through his lectures so do not try to write down every little thing. No worries though he writes out all the steps and posts the notes online. There is a lot of homework but it's manageable. The sample tests help a lot. I suggest Brown if you struggle because he's really nice and doesn't mind going back over things with you.

Dr.Brown is a helpful & kind teacher who will help students if they need it. The only problem is that we have to have a mandatory quiz every week, and these quizzes bring my grade down considerably, because it is never clear on what exactly the quizzes will be on until you get there. The homework is easy because its mymathlab, but the quizzes suck.

This class is impossible to fail because you can do homework until you get a 100, but it gets tedious when you have to be there every single class for attendance

He's a genius at math, but when it comes to teaching he doesn't do as well as I would like. For the most part he stands at the board and just works problems out outloud, expecting you to understand. If you need more guidance, take another teacher.

If math is your forte, do not take Dr. Brown. He seems like a wonderful person, but I just couldn't stand his teaching. He makes a lot of mistakes during lecture and over-simplifies everything. Attendance is checked through clicker and is mandatory. I never went to class (except Fridays) and still got an A. All homework and tests are online.

Mr. Brown is an awkwardly funny guy but he's not a bad teacher. He goes pretty fast through the lessons though. He puts up practice tests that are exactly like the actual tests; without the practice tests I would have done terribly on the tests. He's not a bad guy, so take him.

He goes through the lectures very fast. I only came to claas for attendance. He used mymathlab for all homework and test grades. There is a lot of homework but mymathlab made it a breeze! The tests are exactly like the practice tests and getting a good grade will be easy if you practice your homework.

If you're not very good at math but have to take it, I'd recommend Dr. Brown. He does fly through the lectures, but if you raise your hand to ask him to go through the steps, he will. It's a miracle I passed this class. There's plenty of homework to boost your grade. Also, he carefully checks through the tests to make sure you get the best grade.
