Comment:

Friedman is the best professor you will ever have. He legit rocks. Dont get me wrong, he's an jerk but if you're an jerk back you will get along with him just fine. Being sarcastic with him is the only way to pass. Given this information head into your first class with him expecting to get bullied just give it right back to him and you'll do fine

Jeff Friedman has changed my life for the better. He is a dedicated teacher who is passionate about the subjects he teaches. He will introduce you to writing styles and forms that you havent heard of and will do his best to make sure you find the writing that best emphasizes your strengths. If you put in the effort, youll fine.

Hes a jerk. His ego gets in the way of his teaching. He thinks his writing style is the only style with value. Ive seen him insult students in front of the whole class. Its hard to improve on writing skills when you fear being berated in front of your peers by your professor. The most worthless teacher I had at Keene State.

You kind of have to force yourself to like him but once you do you really appreciate him. He's a smart man and pretty understanding. He may come across as unapproachable because he'll call you out in class , but he gets what it's like to be a student and works with you. Only take him if your going to put in the effort. He gives as much as you give.

I had him for creative writing and he was awesome! He's not going to baby you and tell you your work is good if it isn't. But he also doesn't say it's awful. He offers suggestions on how to improve it. Everything needs revising! No one is perfect on their first try. Not even accomplished writers. If you enjoy writing you'll enjoy the class.

If you don't love writing, and aren't a good writer, drop his class. If you have talent, stick around. Friedman brought out the best in my writing and was very honest and helpful. He takes a personal interest in all of his students, has a great sense of humor. He finds student's stupidity trite, and has no problem saying so. Great guy

Freidman gets a bad rap, but he's actually incredible helpful and inciteful. He only rags on students who take his class to get an easy A. If you put in the work you will get a lot out of this class.

Quite possibly one of the WORST teachers I have experienced!! This guy will tear apart every poem, shirt story ECT he makes you write. Not being a spectacular writer, but not a terrible one either I consistently watch him make student after student sit there with him while he tells you how bad your work is.

The person below me has it dead on. I've never had such a pompous jerk for a teacher. He is so unclear about assignments and what he wants you to do it is insane. Not afraid to insult you and attempt to make students feel like they are stupid for not understanding his vague, unclear method of speaking that makes him sound like he is on crack.

If you are just looking for an easy writing course - don't take his classes. However, if you're actually interested in becoming a better writer, he's great. He's extremely helpful and doesn't ask you to do that much, only asks that what you do involves a lot of effort. Very nice and somewhat quirky- take him if you like poetry.

Honestly, trust me: If you can avoid this insecure egomaniac, do it. The guy cannot shut up, and when he's talking, he's practically incomprehensible. While he knows a lot, he thinks he knows everything. But he knows nothing about loyalty. Ask him yourself. Better yet, avoid him -- unless you're a glutton for punishment.

He is an ok teacher. He is way too hard on some of the people in my class. He goes out of his way to pick on them. His writing exercises help, but he is a jerk about them. He is condescending and outright rude sometimes. He interrupts when people are trying to speak in front of the class for no good reason. Takes 101 way too seriously. AVOID!!

Jeff is a really great writing teacher. His exercises in class helped me to improve my writing, and he was available after class to talk about improving my poems. It was nice to have some real useful criticism. For once.
