Dr. Hirst is a wonderful professor. In a typical week there was one lecture day, two workdays for homework, and a day with a recap of material and a check-in quiz. I really liked this class setup. It was super helpful for learning. It also give students an opportunity to ask questions in class! Great class!

You know exactly what is going to be on the exams (they are essentially identical to the quizzes) so there's no way to fail if you try! You also get the opportunity to do quiz corrections. Also, he's really sweet and cracks himself up doing math. He really loves the stuff.

Best Math instructor I have ever taken. The way he explains Calculus makes it so easy to understand. He doesn't make things purposefully difficult like my precal or trig teachers did. Every week same thing: Day 1: Lecture, 2&3: in class work, 4: quiz. The 2&3 are great because you can do the work and ask him questions while hes walking around.

Same thing every week. Lecture day, followed by 2 problem sessions, and then a quiz at the end of the week. He's there to help you and actually genuinely cares if you are struggling. His lectures may be heavy sometimes but he explains each topic with extreme clarity. Super nice guy. Only 1 test. Take him!!!

Great professor! A comic who makes calc really easy and straightforward. Takes attendance, but if you don't show up you can still do well if you're good at math. Does a review right before the weekly quiz which is helpful. Homework is online and on paper, but it's really short. Stay on top of your stuff, and do all quiz corrections.

Jeff is the man. You have a quiz every week. 14 total and your lowest quiz is used as extra credit. He is super funny and the material isn't bad if you enjoy math. He checks homework before you turn it in, so your bound to get a 100 on all the homework. He's also super easy to find outside of class if you need help. Take him for calc if you can!

Dr. Hirst is a great professor. He gives a lecture every week followed by problem sessions where he will help you understand any homework problems you're having trouble with, then a quiz at the end of the week. He allows for quiz corrections. Besides homework and quizzes there's a midterm and final.

Dr. Hirst is a fantastic professor! He is very sweet and really wants you to succeed in his class. Sometimes the lectures are confusing but he has in class homework sessions where he can help explain the material more. There are 12- 13 quizzes throughout the semester a midterm and a final. Nobody in my class made below a B!

He is great. Set Schedule: lecture, 2 prob sessions, and quiz. He checks work before you turn it in and you can fix it so you always get a 100. Except for the first quiz, the quizzes are exactly what you practiced. Tests are the easiest, just compilation of the quiz problems. Easy A, even if you hate calculus.

He's the sweetest guy. Take Notes. He grades his quizzes harshly, if you miss a sign then you get the problem wrong, but he allows corrections. Monday: Lecture WedThur: Problem Session Friday: Quiz. He follows the textbook pretty well. He's very helpful too, expects you to know some things from pre-calc

Made Calc II as easy as possible. You followed a weekly routine. The first day of the week was lecture, then two days were days to work on homework, which you usually got done in class, and on the last day a quiz which had problems that were much easier than the homework. He is very helpful, and will do everything he can to make sure you succeed.

Excellent course. Made the math extremely easy to understand. Quizzes every week, but you are well prepared for them. Homework is assigned every day, but he gives you time in class to work on it, and will check your answers for you before you turn it in. Easily the best maths professor I have ever had. Would highly recommend him!

AMAZING PROFESSOR!! Hirst always knew exactly what he was talking about. Quizzes are every Friday, but he prepares you for them and will help you out if you are really stuck. A majority of the homework is done in class and he will tell you if you got the answers right or not and will help you. Wonderful about helping out students at office hours!

Prof. Hirst was by a wide margin my favorite professor at App. I took him for calc 2 and 3 and he was helpful, smart, clear and his class overall was pretty simple. He has a great grading system with quizzes and homeworks. Show up, do you work, get an A. Seriously. Take this class with this professor.
