Platt is only going to help if you seek help. He is a good teacher but ready the text book is a must. WILL NOT DO WELL IF YOU DONT READ THE BOOK. The topics he lectures about in class is only half of the test. There are things in the book that he doesnt lecture on that are on the test. As long as you read and get things in on time, you will do well

Jeff Platt is awful to take online. At the beginning things papers were getting graded in a timely fashion, at the end it took him over a month to grade one of my assignments. His test are ridiculously hard, and the notes do not help at all. The book he has chosen is not even approved by the APA. Do not take online if you can avoid it.

Jeff Platt was the absolute worst teacher at NIACC. His tests were very hard, and he didn't care if the students passed the class or failed. There were very few assignments which made it hard to get a good grade if you are not a good test taker. He graded your test in front of everyone, so everyone knew what you got. I wouldn't recommend him.

I took his Abnormal and Social psych classes and they were both good, but I loved abnormal psych! The lectures were really interesting (assuming you like psychology) and as long as you study for the tests an A is definitely possible. The tests can be difficult and take a little time to get used to though. Great teacher!!

I took Social Psych with Platt and I have no real complaints about him. He's willing to help his students as long as they ask for help. His test are extremely difficult so if you want a good grade be prepared to study. The trick to doing good on his test are reading the chapters and making sure you understand the content.

I didn't hear good things about him as a prof, so I took his class online. STILL TERRIBLE. His tests do not correlate the info he gives out. If you want to pass, ignore EVERYTHING HE SAYS and just read the book.

I like the fact that he doesn't teach like a glorified high school teacher. The students are adults, and should be held accountable for their schoolwork. Tough class, but a little studying will do the job. It is nice to see a teacher that does not baby all the spoiled kids fresh out of high school that think the teacher needs to spoon feed them.

The class itself was really interesting and I feel like I learned a lot. Platt isn't much help though, all he does is present the notes on powerpoint. Reading the chapters in the book is a must to fully understand the concepts. Also, he gives pop quizzes once or twice per chapter, so make sure and look over your notes in between classes.

I thought he was an awesome teacher. I know a lot don't like him, but I could totally understand his lectures. I guess the others didn't. I liked his tests and his presentations, but reading the book is a big help-so plan to do it when taking his course.

My class started out with a full class and now its down to about 10 people! Most dropped because of Platt. The majority of the people I have talked to on campus are doing everything they can to keep from having him as a teacher... even waiting until next year to take the course with another teacher!

I loved this class. It was a challenge and I saw psychology from an excellent perspective. Platt is just preparing us for a university.
