Dr. Spurlock has been my favorite professor thus far at Troy. His class is easy and so are his tests. Every question on the test comes from the notes and the notes are posted a week to two before the exam. 100% recommend. Great guy. Cares about you success and is funny.

One of the best Professors at TU. You can tell he is not just at the school for a paycheck he loves to teach. His test are a bit tricky so you have to be in class when he goes over the material, I have taken him twice and passes both times

Comment:

The only grades you get in this class are the tests, usually consisting of 25-50 multiple choice questions. These tests are hard. You have to know exact details and he intentionally tries to trick you, for instance, saying Guglielmo Macaroni instead of Marconi. He acts like grades are a game. Would not recommend.

My favorite teacher this far has been Dr. Spurlock. If you're looking to take a communications class, take him! He is the nicest man and he enjoys teaching. The work load is very easy if you attend class and pay attention and he goes over everything that will be on the test before the test. I highly recommend this teacher.

My experience was fine albeit disappointing. He didn't lecture, we left within 30 minutes unless he played a movie. I was expecting a college class (what I paid for) but this class was very much like high school. Easy A. We took 6 exams but all were easy and multiple choice.

Comment:

The tests come from the study guide and some of what was talked about in class. If you skip, you won't know some of the answers on the tests because the info isn't on the study guide. Don't ask for extra credit or for him to bump up your grade because he won't. He's clear on his grading criteria. It's an interesting class and he's a fun teacher!

The only reason you need to show up is because he will put super specific questions on the tests that you wouldn't think to study on your own. I got an A on every single test and all I did was study about half an hour for a few days each day before the test. Also, Dr. Spurlock tries to make sure the class isn't too boring.

I absolutely love this man. This class is easy, which leaves him a lot of room to show us movies related to what we're learning so we really get a feel for the topic. He uploads the notes to Blackboard, but he gives in-class only info that you'll need for a perfect 100. He's worked in the field he's teaching, so he knows his stuff well.

Comment:

Fun guy who loves his subject, but his tests feel arbitrarily difficult. For example, for one test we had to learn nine "top 10" lists, including the top 10 movie directors of all time, top 10 funniest movies, etc--*in order*, so that he could ask who was the 7th best hero or 4th best villain, etc. What's the purpose of that? Otherwise fairly fun.

Spurlock is my favorite teacher. He is funny and gives really clear notes. Most of his tests are straight from the notes but be warned he hardly ever gives extra credit and when he does it's because half the class fails to show up. Also know he only grades on exams. There is no homework and only 5 exams

EXCELLENT PROFESSOR. Had him for 3 classes and made A's in all 3. He makes you work for your grade.You dont need a textbook. I would recommend him to everyone!!
