I take his seminar but he couldn't direct the class well. Finally, the seminar looks like a lecture and the classroom atmosphere is very embarrassing. But overall, he is a very easy teacher who only cares your papers rather than your participation.

Was very rude when it came to grading papers for class. Attendance unnecessary, only went on the principle. Unclear on what he wanted for papers but quick to make critical comments. Not helpful outside the classroom. Would not recommend the class to anyone.

He is hands down the worst professor I have ever had. I showed up to class and could not pay attention to anything he said because he is quiet and never talks about the topics relevant to the class. He is an easy grader and the class is easy to pass, but be prepared to be bored out of your mind even when its a topic that you really enjoy.

Olly is soft-spoken and hilarious. He never misses an opportunity to slip a joke into lecture. Very easy grader although the material can be a bit dry at times. Tests are mostly true/false questions, and lecture notes are posted online.

This class was disgustingly easy and should be taken by anyone looking for a free A. You don't need to attend lectures since all the notes are online and recitations should be attended to hand in the very easy 2-3 page papers. The professor makes weird references all the time. He's a cool guy to talk to after class though. Don't buy the textbook.

This class is honestly awful. The tests are not a good way to show what you know. You could know everything about Mesoamerica and fail these tests. You could know nothing and ace it. Would never take again and I regret taking it.

This class was absolutely terrible. Do not take this class unless you have to. Grades were given at random. Lectures were painfully boring. Recitation was completely useless and the TA barely spoke English. Honestly one of the worst classes I have ever taken. I was expecting it to be an easy A but it is a challenging B.

This class is very boring and the tests are basically just 150 T/F questions. Barely tried at all, got a B+ on first exam with minimal studying, guessed on the second got a B. He's a fair grader and he is really nice and intelligent. You don't need to go to lectures, or buy the book, go to recitation they will help.

The professor was definitely scatterbrained. His lectures were all over the place and his notes were not organized. Recitations helped a lot. Exams were mostly true false questions with a short essay question, they were pretty confusing/did not accurately portray how much you know. You have to write a short essay every so often and those were easy.

I took this class because my friends took it and said it was easy. The lectures are awful and sort of confusing. Exams are really weird. I tried to get my final moved and he told me to email him. I tried 5 times and he never responded. Definitely would not recommend him.

The worst professor I have had at pitt. He is unorganized and dosent care that is why he gives true or false test. His notes are impossible to follow and he dosent use the text book. If you want to bore yourself its a great class or if you dont care about learning or grades. He clearly dosent care about either.

Lectures can be kind of boring and aren't necessary to attend. He posts all of them online and everything on exams can be found in lecture notes. Class wasn't difficult, study some leading up to the exam and you'll be fine. Textbook isn't even worth buying. He never uses it and no information from the book shows up on exams. Attend recitations.

As others have said, his Mesoamerica course is a pretty easy A. His lectures run a little long and he talks the whole time so it can be boring. However, I went on to take 2 more classes with him because he's really a funny and nice guy. Passionate about his work and knows a TON and it shows when he talks. Paying attention makes his classes a blast.

Not the most exciting class but is an easy gen-ed. Lectures are boring but Montmollin will occasionally crack a joke so be listening! You can tell he is passionate about what he is teaching but its a bore to pretty much everyone else. Tests are a weird format but are doable. Attend lecture! Rec is pointless (except for the ones about exercise 1&2).

He doesn't own a watch and classes always last longer than scheduled. There is rarely a break if it's a long class (6-8:30pm). However, he only grades you on 3 take-home written exams and a term paper so attendance is far from required. Lectures can be funny though, so going doesn't hurt.
