Very tough. Pop quizzes. Attendance bonus points. Comes off as jerk. Actually a really nice guy outside of class. Tough but fair.

he's hard and tedious. sometimes spends time on irrelevant things. u have to attend class. test/quizzes are hard and there's no HW grade. for whatever reason he always has his classes at like 8 or 9 in the morning, which makes paying attention even harder. and you better pay attention since that's the only way you will do well in the class.

Boring, and tedious, gets mad when you ask questions and tells you to look it up in the book or notes, so never ask questions unless you're %100 sure that question is not already been answered. Project is the hardest part he wants you to consider every aspect of the heat transfer, fluids, and the cost model. Always be careful with assumptions!!!!!!

Dr. Marquis is fair, he will tell you what type of problems to expect on the tests, and they're mostly open book/notes, with a small T/F portion being closed Book/Notes

Here's a big secret about engineering. If you are trying to sell your idea, those who you will be selling to act exactly like Dr. Marquis. When you take the class it seems like he is attacking you on everything but in reality he is preparing you. Take everything you can from his class.

Pretty cranky. Tests are moderate and quizzes are tough. Tests have a T/F part and a problem solving part. The T/F part is the hardest. Just do your homework in your notebook for reference on tests, bring your book, and DO NOT miss class and you'll do fine. Cranky in class but rather friendly if you go to his office.

Tests are easy if you attend ALL classes. Not helpful at all outside of class. He does his best to keep students at a distance. Muster some fortitude and stand your ground when dealing with him and you will be fine. He crumbles like a piece of paper when you stand up to his gruffness. Somewhere inside he's a nice guy...but paranoid.

This guy is tough. If you don't show up to class, you're not gonna do well. He gives a lot of handouts, so you need to be in class to get those because he doesn't use the text much. He's a good prof and knows his material, but he's very intimidating. It's possible to do well in his class, but you have to work for it. Slackers beware!

Before I graduated, I thought he was a tough professor (but I learned a lot). After I graduated I went to another univ. for a master's degree and realized that Dr. M. blew the other school's profs out of the water. He's very knowledgeable. Give the guy a chance and (while your grade may not show it) you'll learn a lot.

Start on the project EARLY!! Meet with your group at least 3 times a week the first two weeks, and 4-5 after that. Make sure to divide the work up as best you can. Tests in this class are actually easy for once. Quizzes... not so much. Show up every day, work hard on the project, and don't fail the tests and you can get an A.

He is a jerk but he lets you know how things will be the first day. Projects are the biggest hurdle in this class. Papers will be 10-15 pages long not counting figures, diagrams etc. Quizzes are not too bad do not fall behind. Tests are managable with proper study.

Doesn't work very many problems in class. Most classes consists of him reading the book to you. Problems on test are extremely hard compared to assigned homework. Attendance is extra credit. Although he is a nice guy, he's not a very good professor.

Projects are very hard and tedious but if you can get past them class is a breeze. Extra credit for attendence, study the lectures before class for quizzes, and sometimes he will cover the quizzes in class before giving them. Good guy, fair teacher, project will make you want to die, but stick it out and work hard and you will pass. Tests are fast.

Very thorough in his explanations on topics. If the class tries hard he will be a VERY NICE GUY (extra quizzes and attendance points). Do not skip his class! Just try and you will get at LEAST pass! He comes off as a jerk but once you get to know him you realize he is just preparing you for the "REAL" world.

Take the summer course for Marquis. Only one C in the whole class. However, most people did put a ton of time into projects 30+ hrs/wk. Marquis is definitely weird, but fair. Tests were easy.

Not a nice guy at all. He is OK at teaching the material, but just generally unpleasant to be around. I don't think he knows how to interact with other people. I learned a lot in the class and the test are not too bad if you study the notes and handouts.

Great teacher, explains subject matter well, one of the better teachers I have had. Would take for Thermo 2 and Heat Transfer, but you will learn to hate him in Thermal Design. Have to try to fail his class.
