Sure this is his background, but comes off pompous and arrogant. Therefore, I don't feel open to whatever he is teaching. You know, an attitude of "well I've been there so what I say is truth." Just seems like teaching is more for (his) ego -- i.e., more about him as a teacher than we as students.
