In class now, so far so good. Can't say it's easiest thing at gw but so long as you do the work clear how to do well. Plus, SHAKESPEARE like you've never had it.

Professor Cohen makes every lecture funny, engaging, and clear. Every class, I found myself thinking about the texts in new ways. You'll have to work hard to get a good grade, but he makes it worth it. HIGHLY recommended!

Cohen is entertaining and funny, but really adds a lot to the readings. He makes you consider things you may have missed otherwise. Papers are short and simple, but grading depends mostly on your TA.

Prof. Cohen is amazing! Even if you don't have any interest in medieval literature, his lectures are so engaging that you'll just want to hear him talk. Having said that, he expects a 100% from his students. So, make sure to read the texts and participate in class and you'll be golden!

Professor Cohen is great. I took Myths of Britain this past semester (Spring 2014) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm not an English major, but I had no problems keeping up and feel as if I really benefited from taking this course. He's teaching a larger version of this class in the fall with Professor Ayanna Thompson. I highly recommend taking it.

Professor Cohen is by far the most helpful, intriguing, and passionate professor I have had during my time at GW. I highly recommend this class, and any class with Professor Cohen. He is truly magnificent.

Awesome professor and awesome class! Didn't expect to be all that invested in British Myths but Cohen makes you love his subject. Not too difficult but not a walk in the park either - absolutely recommend it. Taking him again next semester.

On the one hand, demanding: standards were high. On the other, hilarious. Have never had a prof with such a sense of humor. He cracked us all up (and himself too) just through the drawings he made to illustrate his points on the whiteboard. He really cares about students, and about the literature he teaches. Best class at GW so far.

Professor Cohen was very nice and was very invested in his class. He was an amazing lecturer and was always extremely passionate about the course. The assignments were a bit tough, but learning Middle English and understanding Chaucer was actually fun because of his teaching style.

Cohen is an extremely knowledgeable professor and his Chaucer class is absolutely interesting. Attending class is a must, but his class is entertaining so why not go. You need to do the hw especially at the beginning of the semester. It's a fairly challenging course but you'll come out a Chaucerian expert.

Professor Cohen is great! His lectures are interesting, and you can tell that he really loved to teach the course. I would have liked this class a lot more if I had a different TA. She graded her group of students much more harshly than any else. Still, the class is good and I would recommend it! 5 papers, weekly reading quizs, and a final.

Myths of Britain is v. good but don't be fooled from some comments: it is a TON of work and the grading curve is hard. Also: only course at GW I've seen where three students convicted of academic dishonesty. Hardcore; don't take it lightly. He'll call you out if he sees you texting. Obvious he cares about being present, not just occupying a seat.

He's a brilliant teacher, and funny too. He teachers to the class and not a single person in the class slept. I've not talked to one person that didn't like his class--and the writings are really doable and only one page! The final paper is 5 pages and easy to write. All in all the perfect WID class :)

Professor Cohen is one of the most passionate professors I have had. He gives quizzes after each reading which can be challenging but also gives a ton of extra credit. There are also four small papers and a large one at the end of the semester that are not too bad. The final was challenging but doable. Do all the extra credit and u will be fine.

There is so much extra credit available in this class it is fairly easy to get a grade, provided you simply do all the work and go to class. Make sure you have a good TA, they really make the course! And know that the more innovative your argument, the better the grade on the essay, regardless of everything else!

Great class. I was iffy about being an English major and am now very confident in my choice. Professor Cohen is so knowledgeable. Only three short papers, one long one and a final. Go to class and section. Read the books. You will do well. The TA's for this class are also amazing. So helpful, kind and genuinely interested in the students.

Taking class now. Readings not long but you must know them well: weekly quizzes and frequent writing assignments. Very demanding prof, but great conversations as a result (even though 90 students in room). TAs are great.

I was not interested in medieval english literature, but Prof. Cohen actually made it really interesting! There's a lot of reading, but assignments were straightforward, the final was a breeze as long as you had read everything, and I actually looked forward to lectures. He shows a movie clip every single class.
