Comment:
The book chosen for the course does a good job at stating the law. However, the professor loves to go over the many hypotheticals in the book, but he suffers from being extremely long-winded. So by the time he finishes the explanation, you're completely at a loss for what is the correct answer. He's nice, but he needs to be more concise.

I liked Professor Cooper for Civil Procedure. He is extremely knowledgeable on the subject, and does a good job explaining difficult topics and making them more clear. His powerpoints are helpful. If you listen closely in class he often makes it very obvious what topics will be on the final. One con is that he is a really tough cold caller.

Takes a little while to get used to his teaching style, but after that he's great. Incredibly smart and LOVES the subject he teaches. His lectures can be dry, but he'll throw in a few jokes to make it better. Make sure you KNOW the cases before going to class. When cold-called you'll be expected to know more than just the basics.

The classic awkward genius. Hardest class I've ever taken, but I learned more than I ever had or ever will in a single course. If you're interested in being a judicial clerk after law school, consider Fed Courts mandatory. Your logical thinking will tighten, your legal comprehension will expand, and everything else in law school will become easier.

Our final was insanely long. If you expect to just go to class and have an understanding of the material, think again. I taught myself a lot of the material outside of class using supplemental materials. Classes are incredibly long and boring.

Cold calls, seems to alternate boy-girl. Be prepared. If he calls on you, it's not just basic facts, issue, holding, etc. Asks difficult questions you won't need for the exam. He told our class it was one long question, if he tells you that be prepared for about 6 pages front & back of facts & issues. You may need outside sources to teach yourself.

Favorite professor. He's energetic and can hold the attention of the class while covering pretty dry stuff. He does fall behind the syllabus and is very unorganized, but he makes sure he thoroughly covers the material he expects you to know for the final. I sought him out to take again my 2l year.

Cooper was an excellent professor. He knows his stuff and had a great deal of practical experience. He ALWAYS makes an effort to meet with students to explain anything they may have not understood in class. He can go pretty quickly thru the material and will flip thru the slides before you get a chance to take down the slides. LOVE you man!

Prof Cooper was my civ pro professor in the fall and spring of this year. I really enjoyed his class - he's a lively teacher and always kept it interesting. At times he spent WAY too much time talking about himself, as opposed to teaching the doctrines. But I enjoyed his class overall. You have to go to class and pay attention if you want an A.

One of my least favorite teachers. Difficult to understand at times, will suddenly yell to make sure we're awake (while being overly dramatic about many things) but most of all doesn't explain doctrines well at all. Expect to be teaching yourself.

Excellent Prof!!! HAd him for Civ. Pro. and he was always fun to listen to and always understood the material to a very deep level. Sometimes he can go a little over your head, but he will meet with any student after class and during office hours to clear up the misunderstanding!

Engaging and funny, but also bombastic -- which rubs some people the wrong way. (At least his lecture style is never boring.) Regardless, as a self-professed "civ-pro nerd," he's enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable about the subject. It's not an easy subject (and thus not an easy class), but it's to his credit that I feel I learned it well.
