I loved this class. This man clearly knows what he's talking about and enjoys it. He's great at comparing history to modern-day topics that college kids might understand more. There's so much more emphasis on learning & understanding the material than there is relying on memorization and tests and homework. This guy actually cares that you learn.

Comment:

Mummert was a great teacher, passionate about the material and really seemed to know what he was talking about very well. No tests, quizzes weren't bad, presentation graded fairly and you could use your text for the short essays during class (drops the lowest). Not a ton of grades, but I felt like I learned a lot.

Couldn't have asked for a better prof. You work for your grade but there is very little stress associated with learning in his class. This is the best way because I have learned more than with other profs. A++ Professor Mummert.

super chill guy...cancels class often and usually lets out early too. you may think he gives a lot of assignments but its not at all. in class writings with notes and books were a piece of a cake. tests were easy and i dont even think he read our essays which he gives you ahead of time. he keeps it interesting and makes the class appealing. i wish

I like history, but never my professors, cause they were boring...NOT THIS GUY! the man is Funny, Laid back, easy tests because he tells you EXACTLY what's on it, then gives you chance to make up lost points!!! Active Attendance Policy, Cool guy, and knows he's a history dork. I'm a 2.5- 3 student & got a 4. TAKE HIM or I Pitty the fool who doesnt!

I'm not a fan of history but Mummert had a pretty chill class- lets you out early almost every class, cancels quite a bit, straight forward on tests, gives the essay questions in advance, tests aren't worth everything, they're equal to other in-class essays which you can use your book on, and also equal with homework which is easy also-recommended

Great professor with the ability to make History interesting. Attendance is very important - you lose points for missing class and can get 0's on important in-class work. However, HIS attendence is lacking. He cancelled ALL the time, and didn't give nearly enough notice. Definitely not good for a commuter, or anyone that has class times around his.

The tests and essays aren't bad and the homework isn't too time consuming. He allows you to use your notes on some essays. For tests, he gives you the essay questions so you can prepare. I thought it was pretty easy for a history class.

I really loathe studying history, but Prof. Mummert makes it fun and interesting. The class isn't too difficult at all. Tests are fairly easy. Only pain about the class is all those in class essays and the questions he makes you do outside of class to turn in...busy work! Overall cool guy, OK class.

Everyone loves him, and for good reason. He knows so much about history and is extremely interesting. He is extremely interested in his work and makes you interested too. Take this man if you want a fun, fairly easy, and interesting class. You will learn alot! Mum-Dynamite is the man!

I never had a class with Mummert at YCP but interestingly enough he taught me American History in 8th grade...he is easily one of the best teachers I've ever had. To this day I remember so much from that class. You're an absolute fool if you don't take him. A class act all the way.

i love this guy! he's extremely funny as well as laid-back. in class writings and document reports and easy; make sure you read for his exams! always lets us out of class early and has interesting conversations relating to the topics in class. really clear about his exams. take him! :)
