I had Dr. Laursen for parasitology. I am now a PhD candidate for molecular biology and his class remains my favourite. It also taught me a lot on immunology, parasitology, virulence and evolution. Dr Laursen also cares about his students and I can attest to this first hand. Thank you Dr. Laursen.

I had this professor for an immunology class in 2013. Attendance in class is mandatory and you must take good notes. He is a tough grader and makes you think for yourself. Be prepared to study A LOT for his courses. If you are looking to truly learn science, he is the teacher for you! Loved his class!

One of the worst professors I have ever taken. I had him for animal diversity which is a 1000 level class and should have been an easy A or B. Half of the class was failing and he does not care. Tests are HARD and practicals are even worse. He doesn't show you the things you need to identify on the practical or prepare for test. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Worst professor I have ever taken. Such a hard grader, and does not care if you pass. 21 kids in the class and the average is a 58. If you don't go to class you won't know anything. When you ask a question he makes you feel stupid. No extra credit available. Doesn't follow syllabus. Random quizzes and locks the door the second class starts.

He emails the slides he lectures from, but those just point out the main ideas. You have to be there to take GOOD notes! The book will overwhelm you with info, so just go to class. He is very sarcastic. When you ask a question, he will ask you questions until you get the answers. There is no multiple choices on tests, so you must know the material.

Hes a really cool guy, and will treat you as an adult. Expects you to read the book, understand the concepts, and make a personal effort to understand the material. His powerpoint slides arent set up with a 100 definitions for you to memorize for tests. You must read/understand. You will hate him all semester, then realize how much u truly learned

Knows his stuff but attendance is almost mandatory stuff not on powerpoint or not in text book might be on text. Take extensive notes to pass this class. You will learn a ton of material but the exams are tricky so be prepared. Overall he is an ok teacher way better then switzer

Really really really tough grader when it comes to the short answer questions on tests, other than that, I enjoyed the class. Just be prepared to earn your grade, he will not just hand it to you. Also, listen and take note of EVERYTHING he says. It's all fair game for test material, regardless if it is in the notes.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED HIM!!! He is by far the best teacher. HE does expect you to ACTUALLY KNOW what you are talking about, but is VERY HELPFUL! DOES NOT!!!!! MAKE YOU FEEL STUPID in any way shape or form! I wish that I could retake his Animal Diversity class. You do have to study HARD, but if you go to the classes/labs youll do fine!

Class lecture inlcudes very detailed info that will be on the tests, which are very difficult even if you give yourself ample time to review for them. He definitely has his favorites so suck up if you can. most of the time if you dont know an answer, he makes you feel stupid. lectures are very boring and labs are as well
