Prof Rupert is a cool guy. He's got a lot of cool stories and experiences that make class interesting. Attendance is not mandatory and I only attended 1/4 of the classes. It's def an easy class but you have to read the textbook I feel you want to do well. Fair warning, it's not an easy "enjoyment" class. It's heavy on history and can get repetetive

READ THE BOOK COVER-TO-COVER IF YOU'RE IN THIS CLASS. Seriously, he WILL ask questions that will be vague and if you haven't read the chapters in their entirety, you will have NO HOPE of answering them. Also, ALL the listening really IS necessary. Still, it was an interesting and informative course, and I am glad I took it.

It's an interesting class, but it's tough if you're not a music major. He does straight notes and interjects videos and his own stories. Not the worst class ever, I don't regret taking it, but it can be somewhat monotonous at times.

Honestly, this is the worst class I have ever taken at UCF so far in all my three years. Professor Ruprt is knowledgable but severely lacks in teaching. The class average final grade was a solid C. He puts little effort into making sure the material is learned. Not to mention, the text we read in the class is the utmost boring stuff ever.

He really knows his stuff and can back everything with facts. Learned more from him than anyone in music so far. he expects a lot and gets a lot Fabulous teacher and performer. Would love to have him for all my classes.!

I was interested in the subject going into the class but Dr. Rupert killed it for me. The text is pretty much a listing of artist and when they recorderd what album in what city. If you want to know who played bass or drums on a certain album or who Dr. Rupert has played with take this class. If you like seeing 'lose' spelled right don't.

He is very passionate about his subject and he has lots of experience in jazz so he knows it first hand. It is a lot of reading and you have to study for the tests and listening to the assignments. Overall an enjoyable class and he keeps it interesting.

Definitely one of the most qualified teachers I've ever had. He's played sax with some of the most popular jazz bands and is very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. It's not the easiest class, but it was the one I enjoyed the most this semester. STUDY.

Amazing teacher who has had experinece in the history of jazz that he teaches on. Only hitch is that he's so knowledgeable in the subject its common sense to him, so tests arent always easy as one would hope.

Rupert is one of the best teachers at UCF. His knowledge and passion for the subject make class both interesting and fun. His explanations, though sometimes vague, somehow make sense. He is always available for help, and encourages students to drop by. He is the kind of prof that makes UCF great.

Rupert is a good teacher. Jazz is a cool class but you really can't slack in it. You HAVE to study for the test if you choose not to go to class. You HAVE to study for the tests in you do go to the class.. Basically you only need to STUDY for the test. The book is a necessity. Good Class!!!!

Mr. Rupert is awesome. One of the best classes I've taken so far. You can tell that he loves what he teaches and wants everyone in his class to appreciate it just as much. He's really nice. One of the only teachers at UCF that always remembers my name and says 'hi' when he sees me on campus.

What can I say about Mr. Rupert... He is so dedicated and he loves what he teaches. He is on fire and you really learn the jazz material. I love this guy and he dresses so well. Lots of material to cover so READ!!! You will pass.
