Comment:
Homework consisted of 3 programming assignments that I found to be challenging yet interesting. Exams were "difficult" but you are allowed 1 sheet of notes during the exam, so if you type small enough, and review the power points / old exams they should be easy A's or B's. The TA's and Professor gladly offered help on anything if you needed it.

Frustrating and most boring course I have ever taken . Lots of material to read for quizzes. He does not know how to teach. Quizzes were difficult nothing like past semester quizzes. Do not rely just on power point material, he asks questions from related papers as well. Questions on quizzes not clear. I do not recommend this course to any1.

Interesting lecture style. He compares everything to real-world examples. 3 Programming assignments: First one is difficult, took me several attempts before completion. The rest are easy. 3 Tests: They're okay. They're based on previous exams, but there's several tricky questions. Overall, fairly easy 3000-level course.

There are 3 programming assignments and 3 exams. The assignments are pretty easy if you are a decent programmer, and the professor provides excellent resources for the assignments. No other HW other than that. The exams are also easy, you get to bring 1 sided cheatsheet with anything you want. Exam is similar to the mock exams he has is lecture.

The professor has a very good attitude towards students. Although the class relies on you knowing programming the tasks are of medium difficulty and are explained in a lot of detail.

Grade is 60% three "quizzes" (no final), 35% four programming assignments, and a 5% attendance quiz. He is insanely disorganized and often didn't seem to understand the material he was supposed to be teaching. You'll be completely teaching yourself (or relying on the TA), so if you already know programming, this will be an easy A. Otherwise, AVOID.

goes off topic too much with his polish stories and really doesnt teach you how to do the assignments you need to do to self learn inorder to do good in the class. Expects you to have knowledge prior tot his class.

unorganized, lectures are mess, don't learn much from him, have to learn everything on my own because he is not good at introducing new topics and or properly intruding the content.

Absolutely and completely unorganized, blackboard is a mess (with assignments and pages from last year) uses Piazza instead of casa or blackboard for no reason that I can understand. I can't figure out where to turn anything in.. AVOID. I will not be taking a class taught by him again

Do assignments and go to class. Expect to pass with an A. Boring lectures sometimes, but overall pretty lenient with HW/quiz. only 3 tests including final! He posts questions that will be very similar to exam!

Very lenient with assignments and in class homework, is always willing to help. I will admit to falling asleep several times during lecture. He has his eyes closed 80% of the time too, while he's talking. Overall fairly easy 5 assignments and 3 "quizzes" the 3rd quiz is the "final exam". Very easy just read slides and do well on assignments.

Very boring professor. His pacing of his class was excruciating. By the end of the semester no one ever went to class. He tries to be funny with his jokes but most of the time they come off as unprofessional and entirely unneeded. But despite that the assignments were simple and all his exams were based on previous one which he posts up.

Comment:
Professor creates a hostile learning and testing environment. Witnessed the professor scream at a student and call him a "stupid idiot" in front of the entire class, just because he was not fond of the student. The class is not terribly difficult, but that still doesn't make up for his explosive nature.

I often times would go to class for his stories. He does get you through class without falling asleep. That's for sure. But he did not explain the programming assignments. Not the technical part. You have to teach it yourself. All of it. He won't show you any code examples or applications. The 1st assignment was a disaster. Fail assngms, fail class

He teaches from seminal papers in Operating systems. He manages to keep students from falling asleep during the lectures on particularly opaque topics by using real world examples and familiar analogies. He rewrites the exams every semester, but they are similar to the past exams he makes available on his website.

Most boring class ever. Teacher cant go 5 min w/o making a comparison to something extremely irrelevant like his nephews, or the time he was in Germany learning English, etc. Tests are a joke, identical to ones on his website from prev semesters. Only purpose of this class is to make sure you can't graduate w/o being a non-sucky programmer.
