Comment:

Professor Merton is one of the only gems in Isenberg. She cares about her students and really wants them to understand the material. She goes out of her way to accommodate for review sessions, extensions, etc. The lectures can be kind of overwhelming but the actual work for the class isn't that bad. Would definitely recommend if you enjoy law.

She's a decent professor but incredibly unorganized. She rarely posts grades and takes forever to get grades back to students. Her exams are generally easy but are tricky at times. The final 10-page paper is kind of a hassle to write. She's a nice person and means well, and she's very reasonable with extensions, time conflicts, etc. Average prof.

Merton is great. The material of the class is often dry, as is she, but she does her best to make it interesting. She is one of the most caring people I've met, and the most reasonable professor at Umass. She is a fair grader, gives deadline extensions, and provides everything you need to ace the course. Lecture heavy, book not vital.

Merton is incredible! Shes so caring!!! She has a lot on her plate so is a bit disorganized since she's a full-time attorney. But seriously the sweetest lady you will ever meet. Always happy to meet one on one, and especially her study guides have SO much info, study that and youll be good.

Professor Merton is the nicest woman ever. She is so smart and wants her students to do well. Her exams weren't easy and there's two obnoxious homework assignments and she's bad about handing grades back but she is very understanding, changed due dates all the time. Bought pizza for review sessions too. Put in the work and you will do very well.

Comment:

Merton is literally one of the sweetest and most caring professors. The material can be dry but she really cares about what shes teaching and her students. There is a decent amount of assignments but doable if you stay on top of them and she really does not care about things being late. Not very good about putting grades in but still a great class

I wish I could say something good about Merton but I can't. Semester is almost over and nothing has been graded. Two huge assignments that pertain to our 10 page end of the semester paper and neither have been graded. Weekly discussion are busy work. Online weekly quizzes are poorly worded & lectures are all over the place. DO NOT TAKE MERTON

First off, I have no idea how well I am doing in the class. The midterm was not difficult however, her assignments are really confusing and they don't provide much added value. Her lectures are painful as they are very boring and I can't really say I have learned much. The class is very unorganized and their are other professors who are way better.

She's a very sweet woman! Her exams aren't hard at all and she is a pretty easy grader. As long as she can see that you're putting in effort, she will give you a good grade. She takes attendance so be careful with that. There's a lot of info you'll have to memorize but the class itself is sometimes interesting and usually bearable.

Merton's class was pretty easy only two homeworks, two tests, and a paper. However, I wouldn't recommend anyone take this class due to course administration. The semester ended last week and we still haven't gotten our final grades for our midterms that we took in October. She takes ridiculously long to grade anything.

Professor Merton is very knowledgeable about her subject, and extremely nice. Her lectures can be little long and or dryboring, but she makes an effort to make it interesting. She is very accommodating about the workload, and makes an effort to work with students. Definitely attend the lectures if you can

I wish i could give merton a better review because she wants to help and is super nice. unfortunately she is very unclear with what she wants, and takes forever to grade homework and exams. It is 1 week before finals and she hasnt graded midterms. 2 long homework assignments, 1 paper, 2 exams. Not an insane workload, but overall tough to get an A.

You need the book for class and attendance is mandatory. The class is interesting if you like learning about law. There's easy quizzes online. Her assignments are super long and pointless through and kind of confusing. Overall not a bad class!

I don't know why other people are claiming that they haven't learned anything from this class because honestly this was one of the best classes I've ever taken at Umass. Although she never uses slides, she usually explains everything clearly and she always provides extra help whether it be for the final paper or an exam. Loved this class.

She is a very sweet person but I would not recommend taking a class with her. She doesn't use slides and it is extremely hard to pay attention in order to write down everything she says. Quizzes usually have material we did not go over and exams are tough. You really don't need the book and the 10 page final paper is a pain but not horrible.

DON'T buy the book!! It is very easy to find a PDF online and we hardly ever used it. Otherwise, this class was straightforward, the work was easy to understand, and tests were not that bad. The final paper is annoying but doable. Merton is very sweet and cares about her students but takes ages to grade assignments.

This is the worst business professor I have ever taken. She doesn't use the book and it's super expensive. Took 4 weeks to get an exam grade back. Always came 15 plus minutes late to class. Did not learn one thing. I would definitely NEVER take a class with her again.

DO NOT BUY THE BOOK ITS $200 AND SHE DIDN'T USE/REFERENCE IT AT ALL. all of the answers to the quizzes can be found in your notes or on google
